Boxingâs future>Ted Cruz>Senate>Bill on Trumpâs desk to be signed>Signing ceremony with luminaries.
This is what I think will happen with the UBO structure:
- At first. Not much. Takes time.
- Zuffa forms UFC-like league. But only has a fraction of talent. So it will be like UFC when Pride was ascendent.
- Other UBOs will form. MVP. Maybe a sanctioning body. New companies. New VC money. It will be like MMA 2003-2012 when there were many leagues.
- The traditional 4 belt system will continue, but the pool, the market-share, they have to operate in will get smaller.
- Sanctioning bodies will begin to lose their power. Some may make deals with a UBO. Like a PBC UBO with WBA titles.
- This scrambling for position/power will go on for a long time.
- After ten years Zuffa will be the main league. But I donât think it will get a UFC-like monopoly. Boxingâs history of promotional competition is too deep. I think they will be the biggest. Maybe 50-75% of market share. But other competitor leagues will survive too. Like if Strikeforce had survived and got a good TV deal.
That is what I reckon. I could be wrong. But that is what I foresee.
Big Gug looks fuckin sharp!!
