Prime Aldo was incredible. Insane speed and reflexes. Leg kicks that were coming so fast they seemed impossible to defend or prepare for.

I think Topuria’s power would give him the edge in this fight.
First person to KO Holloway and first person to KO Volkanovski at Featherweight.
Aldo never came close to even hurting Max or Alex when he faced them.

I agree but even in his prime he never fought anyone close to the calibre of Holloway or Volkanovski.
The Aldo who used to throw leg kicks was definitely a more formidable opponent though.

Prime Aldo was as fast and as accurate as anyone in the division with legendary takedown D and maybe the best leg kicks ever. Aldo smokes him.

Aldo was pretty scary in the WEC. I actually miss the WEC. They had pretty good talent for free tv.

Prime Aldo has the kicks. But Topuria has the far better boxing and he’s from an evolved era. I don’t think Topuria is taking Aldo down though

Topuria is twice the size of Faber. Topuria vs Aldo at his peak would be an amazing fight, I would give Topuria the edge from power alone, and fight IQ. Aldo never blew me away with his saavy.

He’s still the GOAT at that weight class IMO. As much as the UFC tries to gloss over him now (like company man John Anik does for example).

Chimaev, Topuria, Khabib, Islam, Usman & Umar Nurmagomedov, Merab (to a lesser extent).
I remember thinking blacks would take over MMA when it got popular enough as a sport. But its the eastern europeans that may be.

Topuria is also the best striker in the division. And against Volk and Max that’s really saying something.
I think it’s fitting Max beat Justin and Topuria beat Max. Justin and Dustin have never been guys I’d say are elite strikers. Entertaining, most definitely, but they don’t have the makings of a champion athlete.

also that dude fights like he has no idea how tiny he is. i told my short buddy to watch that fight for inspiration.

100%. UFC should have kept WEC and Strikeforce as seperate shows. Like the WWE has with RAW and Smackdown.
It would be nice to see a different crew, different ring card girls, and most importantly a way to bring in new fighters and let them build a name by becoming a champ on tv in the minor leagues before getting called up to the big leagues. Already having a new and win streak and a belt in a sister organization.
And for fucks sake they should have kept Pride and just had UFC guys and Pride guys and then have much more meaningful events of UFC vs Pride or Strikeforce for a belt.
