Travis Rousey: Then Everything Fell Apart

At one point, he looked like the UFC’s next heavyweight king. Six-foot-seven. Fast. Powerful. Explosive. The kind of guy who could throw flying knees and knockout elbows in the same exchange. From highlight-reel chaos to top-three contender status, Travis “Hapa” Browne had everything going for him—until he didn’t.
If you remember Browne for that front kick against Overeem or the elbow that folded Barnett in seconds—you’re not alone. He was a legit force in the cage, and for a moment, it looked like the belt was just around the corner. But things changed fast. And the fight world never got a full explanation.
We’re breaking down his entire journey—from the unlikely rise to the sudden fade. The late start. The raw talent. The insane knockouts. The camp switch. The losing streak. The media noise. And finally, the decision to disappear from the sport altogether.
If you’re a longtime fan, this is your chance to revisit one of the UFC’s most athletic big men—and finally make sense of what actually went down. And if you’re new to the sport, buckle up. Because Travis Browne’s career is a wild reminder of how fast things can change in MMA.
One moment, you’re a knockout away from a title shot. The next? You’re gone.
Watch till the end for a deeper perspective on what his career meant, how close he really came to the top, and what current fighters can learn from his rise… and fall.

I was a big Travis fan. He just couldn’t get over the hump

Why do guys on a successful run switch gyms lol.

Anyone with poor enough judgement to hook there wagon to a Honda clearly isn’t in the right headspace to be a champ.

His fight with Arlovski was one of the best 1 round heavyweight fights I’ve seen. That was supposed to be a fight for Browne to get a W and be in the mix again, but the Pitbull had other plans.
