UFC 6 - Video Game

@onepunchJD Are there any fighters at MW or WW that you’d be excited to use?

Actually, I think Islam would be a fair fight for GSP at WW in this game. Kamaru and Leon Edwards should be up there too.

I still might want to use Matt Hughes some.

I can see Couture getting a decision over peak Ken.
Have a hard time seeing Couture finishing him though.

Hendo, Hughes, Lawler, and GSP of course.
Franklin could be fun too.

GSP seems like you could dominate from anywhere once you get good with him.

Hendo might be harder to master, but once you do could be very difficult for opponents.
Hopefully they give the H-Bomb it’s due.

Hughes probably spam takedowns and G&P which could be fun to frustrate people.

Lawler just to throw down no fucks given.

Franklin gets overlooked because of the Anderson fights. But before those results he was near the front of the curve. Could be very effective if they make him right.

That’s all just speculation without playing the game of course.

UFC 4 & 5 have been my comfort food in the COVID lockdowns and beyond. I often just throw it on and do a couple of fights vs NPCs after work to unwind before dinner.

Looking forward to 6.
Glad the Dana has stayed out of it and not let his petty grudges dictate who is and is not in the game.
UFC5 we got to use Fedor and now we’ll get Ken and Randy. Hoping Ken being there means Frank is possible as later dlc.

I hate how 5 you get dropped by leg kicks. I’m kicking ass and I throw a leg kick that gets checked and I loose!

There are some frustrating ways to lose in UFC 5. My least favorite is probably when I’m winning the fight by a good margin and I get one-punch KO’d.

These things happen..

It’s not satisfying in a game. In real life it’s different.

I guess it depends on who it is and how it happens.

If it’s someone like Mark Hunt it makes sense and you definitely would want to avoid punching exchanges in the last round if you’re comfortably ahead.

But if it just seems random regardless of the opponent – like it’s going to happen a certain percentage of the time regardless of situation – yes that would be a complaint from me.

@Canooke

Played some Undisputed with my son yesterday.

It really is a good game.
Too bad about the career character thing..

It would be interesting to see prime Ken’s strategy vs Couture - I don’t think he is going to go in there trying to blast double Couture to the ground .. that leaves him with a sprawl and brawl tactic which Ken was not very good at at that point in his career - he was always used to have the strength/grappling/side advantage too.. this is one of those matchups I really wish we could have seen

Couture/Ruas is another good one

Not sure but I don’t know why he wouldn’t try.
His advantage early would be explosiveness with the strength to finish.
He might also try a leg scissor.

I think Ken kind of always had the Sprawl & Brawl ability and it came somewhat naturally.
His TDD and overall grappling foundation was more solid than his pedigree might suggest. He was never a technical striker but always had power and won 3 Toughman competitions.
I think it was more a matter of emphasis.
It’s not like Ken did a bunch of training/improving in the 4 years he was in WWF. His more “upright” approach after his comeback was due to physical limitations.
In the early UFCs Ken wasn’t very interested in “brawling”, because it wasn’t as much to his advantage as dominant grappling and submissions.

As far as a Culture matchup, admittedly it’s a little more difficult for me to imagine than some.

I think Ken was better in the clinch than he gets credit for. He wasn’t very offensive from it, but physically and positionally he was always very strong and quite comfortable.

Ken isn’t as big as the HWs Couture eventually struggled with like Rico and Barnett. But Ken had strength greater than his size, which could present some similar problems for Couture to work against as time goes on. Since I don’t see Couture finishing Ken early – and 90s Ken had very good conditioning – that could become a factor in later rounds.

And Couture was not at all immune to submissions.

It’s interesting..

Kind of depends on when we define “prime” Couture.
