UFC finally ready to adopt Trevor Wittman curved gloves

He has never thrown a punch in his life

How stiff (beep) is the curve? It looks like you can still stretch your fingers out if you want.

Finally.

This should’ve been done YEARS ago but because they wouldn’t sell the rights to the glove to the UFC, Zuffa kept backing out. The gloves are amazing. It’s a slap in the face to the fighters they had to wait this long.

The ONX gloves are similar to the PRIDE gloves where there is full range of motion in hands and fingers for grappling.

Here is a video of MM showing off how the PRIDE gloves work in regards to fingers:

Notice how the fingers can move if you intentionally want to move them, but the striking surface has an aggressive curve? This makes fingers curved downward the default, even when not making a fist, putting your arm out, etc.

Of course he’s lying, but Jones says eye pokes are accidental and done when he is finding range or putting his arm out as a defensive measure. The ONX gloves would mitigate eye pokes significantly if this were true since by the shape of the glove, if he is just putting his arm out to defend himself, his fingers would be downward in the direction of the curve.

Gloves are long over due. Can’t think of any scenario in striking or grappling where it’s advantageous to have your hand fully extended and fingers splayed unless you wanted to eye poke.

No? You can straighten your fingers. Striking is more gross motor movement based than grappling. Much less risk of an unintentional eye pokes with a curved glove.

Not good

Trevor just said things are different now and he has business team. Just do a standard licensing deal. Not that difficult to meet in the middle on this.

Why not just use Pride FC style gloves. They had it figured out long before Whittman came along.

Dana White has shed light on why UFC hasn’t closed the deal to use Trevor Wittman’s fighter gloves.

Eye pokes in MMA have long been a significant issue. Back in Oct. 2025, the problem reared its ugly head when UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall was poked in both eyes by Ciryl Gane in the opening frame of their title fight. The UFC 321 headliner was ruled a no contest and Aspinall underwent multiple surgeries on both eyes.

For years, Wittman, a top MMA coach, has touted his premium MMA gloves, which were designed to reduce eye pokes and provide increased wrist protection. Many have wondered why the UFC brass hasn’t jumped at the opportunity to have their fighters wear the ONX gloves, but now there is an answer.

During the UFC Vegas 119 post-fight press conference, White told reporters that the asking price for the gloves is a no-go.

Dana claims he wanted $70 million for the gloves.

He’s a lying POS, so who knows.

An utter failure by the $38B conglomerate if they cannot manage a licensing deal to use these gloves.

Unlike the fight kits and mouthguards which have licensing deals, if UFC really wants to purchase the patent outright, it is because they know the gloves are that much better than whatever else is on the market.
