Big Dan standing James Thompson up when he was ground and pounding Kimbo allowing Kimbo to get the knockout win was either pure incompetence or rigged.
Honestly so far I havenât really seen any legit examples of corrupt reffing in this thread. Bad reffing yes, but currupt not really.
Paying off a ref doesnât even make a lot of sense. Refs can influence the fight, but their opportunities to influence it are inconsistent and usually marginal.

Wrong
Allowing eye pokes changes a fight if only one guy uses them
Dana knows Trump, nothing is going to happen l.
10% of UFC fights have any eye pokes. You want to buy a ref off on the chance of an eye poke happening?
Buy said ref off for a single fight involving a fighter that always uses eye pokes.
Do the math.
Here we go
Refs are paid way to low, so the chance of bribes are big.
Sure. So you have a 5% chance on average a fighter will commit an eye poke. A serial eye poker is problably 5x more likely so you have a 25% chance. Then you have probably a 50% chance the eyepoker does does the honorable thing and breaks on their own accord. So were at 12.5%.
Then you factor in that successful eye poking wonât necessarily result in a finish or a win. And then the possibility that video replay reverses the finish. I just dont see it. Not saying itâs not possible. But I think buying off ref would be a shit investment.
If youâre going to rig a fight the best way by far is to get a fighter to take a dive. Way way behind that would be to pay off a judge. Then behind that pay off a ref.
I guess you arenât looking at it the same way I am.
Allowing one fighter to foul is certainly one of the ways to create an advantage, not the only one.
I agree a dive is the easiest way to fix a fight, that is obvious.
It seems clear that some refs are doing some really fishy shit, and have been for years. At some point you canât call it incompetence, it is something else.
Looks like many fighters have been approached to rig. How many said yes, that is the question.
Thatâs nuts. 70k to take a career hit, miss out on doubling your purse with a win bonus, miss out on a possible 50k bonus, and possibly face potential criminal charges if caught. What a joke.
