"Undisputed" Boxing Game

Was chatting with AI and it told me that the developers aren’t trying to fix Undisputed anymore, it has flaws that are too difficult to fix, so they are starting to make Undisputed 2. Supposedly they are using an all-new game engine, a proven one, and they are getting developers from EA and 2K, and maybe another that I’m forgetting. IIRC, the sequel will have a much bigger budget.

Also, AI said that they very likely got the license for Mike Tyson for Undisputed, but that they decided to save him for Undisputed 2 since Undisputed is pretty broken.

This is all good news to me because not only do I like boxing games, but what I read about Fight Night Forever makes me think I won’t like it. It’s going to have blocking like in Fight Night Champion, and I hated the blocking in Champion.

Anyway, I thought Undisputed had a good soul, but the gameplay was broken. I think if they take another run at it, with some seasoned developers, a bigger budget, and the experience from the first go-around, the sequel could be awesome.

^ A couple of months ago some of the YT boxing channels did videos for the new game. They all went to the UK HQ. Bud Crawford was there. Teo Lopez was there.

They said the second game is a totally different thing than the first.

If you google or YT search the last three months you will find them if you want. They did video blogs.

Boxing Fanatico was one of the channels.

All new engine, bigger budget, and veteran programmers that used to work for EA and 2K. And they have the experience from making the first Undisputed.

I think it will be great. Steel City has been trying to make the right kind of boxing game all along. It’s a game for purists that respects the sport of boxing.

I thought this current one is fine it just needed some upgrades and more historic fighters.

The main problem is that you can’t compete with career mode fighters on 2 players.
If the new game doesn’t fix that problem, then they haven’t really fixed any-fucking-thing, have they?

I’m starting to get aggravated shelling out $70-$100 and getting my hopes up for eventual letdowns.

Then you’re gonna LOVE the new one.

I hope you are able to use your created fighter online. I also hope that it’s an option that you can select or not. I prefer using real fighters and I’d rather fight against other real fighters. It would be good if you can select real, created, or “open” where it’s a mix of both.

Will they have this for PS4 as well? Or just PS5?

You are very optimistic.

And yeah I’ll probably buy it.

That would be cool but I’m more interested in using it for 2 player offline on the same consul.
So my son and I can go to war with our career mode characters.

That’s different than just creating a fighter.
You can create a fighter currently and fight with him. But it’s cheesy because there is no limit in the attributes – so who wouldn’t make their fighter 100 in each category?
It’s like a cheat code. Not very interesting.

With career mode, there is a balance. You can beef up certain attributes but you have to prioritize because you don’t have enough time to both recover and max out every stat – which makes it somewhat of a realistic simulation.
You can also kind of adjust during your career if you feel you need to change emphasis either based on weaknesses, or even training for a particular opponent.

So you’ve taken the time to make your fighter, then have gone through the grind of building him up from a club guy to a champion – and fluidly built him into the fighter you want him to be along the way. You had to master his techniques and make decisions about developing his strengths before reaching the full potential of his physical attributes.

There is a time investment there, that IMO is more satisfying than just getting good with a legend who’s style and strengths have already been decided.

Now imagine doing that for a fighter in each weight class.

To me it’s only natural to want to compete with someone else who has done the same thing.

Don’t get me wrong, I like fighting with the legends. And if they are going to screw you in career mode by not letting your career fighter compete – then maybe they should just skip that option altogether.

If you’re going to do it, do it right IMO.

So yeah, hopefully they fix that.

I don’t think it’ll be available on the PS4 because the first Undisputed game was not.

I prefer the legends and the current fighters but what you described sounds like a lot of fun too and it makes sense that you’d want to be able to use your created fighter in offline vs mode (or online).

Right?

You’d think it would be obvious – kind of like not using UFC 1 Shamrock should be obvious..

Thanks Canooke. I have an old PS4 sitting around that I literally never used, but want to start playing sports games. Mostly UFC/boxing stuff. Sounds like just biting the bullet and gettign a PS5 is the way to go! Thanks!

I think you’d like the PS5 and it would be cool if you played some of the fighting games that the OG chats about.
