“I had developed a really bad eating disorder, as well as moving down to middleweight,” Craig continued. “It seems a much better fit for me at light heavyweight. I’m in a weight-based sport so I have to watch calorie consumption. I also have to go out and parade how I look, so you end up with not just having not only an eating disorder, but how you look. I want to look good, the last thing I want to do is look out of shape. All of these negative things play on you as a fighter, so what you need to do is [ask], what’s best for my mental health? Staying at middleweight definitely wasn’t best for my mental health.”
Former UFC fighters Paige VanZant and Kay Hansen also suffered eating disorders from their ongoing weight cuts.
The upcoming UFC 314 pay-per-view (PPV) card is one of the most stacked events of the year, but it just lost a key main card matchup.
Per UFC Mexico City’s broadcast, a welterweight fight between rising contenders Geoff Neal and Carlos Prates has been scrapped after “Handz of Steel” withdrew due to injury. MMAmania confirmed the cancelation with UFC officials as well.

In the co-main event, Michael Chandler returns to action and provides the toughest test of Paddy Pimblett’s UFC career as the popular fighter from Liverpool attempts to take out an always exciting Fight of the Night machine to catapult himself up the lightweight ranks.
The featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes caps off the night as they battle for a vacant belt after Ilia Topuria vacated the title to make a new home in the lightweight division.
The UFC 314 main card kicks off at 10 p.m. ET on Saturday night on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
