im a defensive puncher/trapper/dragger, i do not have enough ko power or stupidity to throw the first punch without knowing more about hte person. At a huge push, a super sharp kick/stomp to knee. But would prefer to see a punch and drag them into that wall behind me and turn it around so they are trapped by me. (Assuming its one on one)
@PlatinumBerry would simply blow his adversary to calm him down
I guess it depends on the person. I don’t care who a man is at my size, range and power they’re going down if I catch them. If I was smaller and less powerful I’d have more trepidation but for me the best defense is my offense.
It is definitely situational. Given space and time, a stiff jab is tough to detect and can be a good way to effectively bridge a gap or create space. Some reputable instructors teach what they call an eye jab. Not bad, but I prefer a stiff jab to the chin as a gross motor movement that is easy to drill repeatedly. Basic boxing including good footwork, a basic fundamental understanding of wrestling (level changes, clinch controls, pummeling, wrist and bicep ties) mixed with some decent top control, can win most fights. Kicks, knees, elbows, sweeps and submissions are all good to learn too obviously. There’s no doubt being as fit, agile and strong as possible is also an often overlooked advantage. But basic fundamentals are king in street fights.

I think most street fighters wouldn’t be ready for this.
High kicks are undoubtedly devastating but also risky, as even an unskilled adversary can potentially grab a leg and drive forward, landing the kicker on their back. But no doubt, if it lands, it’s brutally effective. Do you think a midline teep is a more effective option for most people?

I’ve done this a couple times, one guy folded in half backward when he slammed into the tailgate of his truck . If you are closing with any kind of speed, like running up on a friend getting surrounded, it will fuck them up. People expect you to stop right in front of them and start swinging. Launching into a sweet bicycle kick from 8 feet away makes them do the Glass Joe face.

Depends on situation, but probably dirty boxing to double to ground and pound. If I get behind standing or on the ground then throw uppercuts and slam.
Definitely true. What we see over and over is that fighting at range is a learned skill but fighting in reality is generally emotional. So aggressors get extremely close and try to bull forward and grab rather than stand at range and fight otherwise they are literally trying to strike and run away. It’s not uncommon for some to run straight forward. A front kick to the solar plexus is awesome and hard to screw up.
It’s so insane that made it into an actual instructional video sold as anti-rape advice.
This would be highly effective out of nowhere.

Classic telegraphed overhand right. And im talking an arm punch to. None of this feet in the right postion, rotation your body for more power bullshit. Nope. Stand sqaure, hands down chin up talking shit. Probably telling them to go ahead and swing on me as i close the distance for them. Why? Because im fucking tougher than they are. And thats a fact jack! And they need to know it beforehand so they have they oppoortunity to save themselves a trip to the hospital. Once shit pops off i just see red bro. I was in the special forces AND i used to trane ufc. These guys are already dead and they dont even know it…… ![]()
