I’m really curious the legality of this? Is it private or public bike trail and property? In my state if you have a barrier like this up, and limited signage you are liable. If the town has it up, they are liable for injuries. Same goes for snow mobile and ATV trails. I know a farmer who had a steel cable up across an entrance to his fields and it decapitated a kid on a snow mobile. He beat involuntary manslaughter, but got convicted on several lesser charges.

The gate is a mega dick move, he put it up on his own property that was traditionally a biking/walking route. Prick could’ve at least painted it orange

Common practice near me is bright yellow plastic chains or barriers. Breakable, might cause a minor accident or hurt a bit, but not likely to cause serious harm or injury.

i’m an avid scooter man myself. but they demand respect and are not to be trifled with.
I would by an electric bike if I lived in town. No way do I ride a bike on our rural roads. A guy I know was hit by someone and he was thrown into a ditch. It was a hit and run, the guy died slowly in the ditch as you couldn’t see him from the road
