plus Pereira, Kelvin Gastelum, Brad Tavares. Which 4 of the 8 could Silva not beat? lmao 6/8 minimum would go on the highlight reel.
I think a better question is if Izzy had to deal with elite grappler after grappler after grappler like Silva did, what would his record look like? We saw him smashed on the ground by the couple of good grapplers that got him there.
Are you forgetting all of Silvas terrible fights where he was too scared to engage. Talia’s Latis, Damion Maia and many more. Also Chael beat the shit out of him for 5 rounds.
Massive underdog that pulls off a win against a guy that stands out the most, because that guy is bored and the underdog has nothing to lose. Weidman’s shitty career not long after that says everything we need to know. Also, weidman had the samE leg break happen, so it could have easily have been him on the other side of that second fight
Izzy has zero grappling skills. He has good TDD but that’s it. Anderson Silva was a BJJ black belt. So not only was Silva the better striker but also the much much better grappler too
I’d bet that the prime TRT Sonnen that Anderson submitted in round 5 would have beaten Izzy with his wrestling
This is possibly The most retarded take on here. Please say you’re Gen Z so we have something to blame it on because this is just embarrassing.
Stylebender basically lost a decision to a shot Anderson after a career ending injury, a decade after the start of his run. How do think Silva from 2006 does against him? You don’t have to, it would be a one sided beating with Stylebender looking like Stephan Bonner out there
It was pretty close and lots of people gave it to Silva that night. Stylebender did fuck all either way against a dude that TWO of couldn’t have beaten the original version of.
Silva lost that fight because he fought like a cocky retard with the showboating.
Even all these years later I maintain that he was better and could have and should have won.
Recap:
Weidman took him down in the open once. Silva got up. From then on Weidman couldn’t even get close on his takedowns as Silva kept his back to the cage.
It started to look like a typical Silva fight at that point. Silva clowning him in the striking. He just got way too over the top with it and got caught. A more disciplined approach and that would have been a mid to late TKO or easy UD.
