Your All-Time NBA Starting Five (Part 2)

Wilt would dunk LeBron.

Not dunk “on” him.
He would dunk him.

If LeBron played against a team with wilt, he would become a point guard so fast it would make the coaches head spin.
He would want none of that.

Wilt is the most dominant player ever.
There is no reality where LeBron is better than Wilt.
It’s almost as absurd as saying he’s close to Jordan.

No you absolutely DO not!

Bird is better than LeBron.

If you put them both on the exact same teams, but the only difference was Bird and LeBron – Bird’s team wins a 7 game series 10/10 times.
And LeBron would be crying on the sidelines like the obvious bitch that he is.

There is more to greatness than accumulating stats in an era when it’s easier to score.
Sheesh.

Yeah. Like I’ve mentioned several times Ive watched a fraction of the basketball of anyone else in this thread

I remember seeing a clip of Jokic swatting LeBron the fuck out of the way like he was a child.

LeBron is a way better defender than Bird, and a significantly more efficient scorer. He’s the better player. More rings, more MVPs. Better advanced metrics.

Better offense, better defense, more rings, more MVPs, better advanced stats, consistently ranked higher.

Sometimes it’s not the masses who are asses.

How do you figure?

Bird is the better three point shooter and better free throw shooter.
LeBron has the better FG% in an era when it’s easier to score.
Whoopty-fucking-do.

It was one thing, together.

It would be easier to explain if you didn’t eschew True Shooting. LeBron is significantly more efficient from two-point range, and this more than offsets Bird’s greater efficiency from three-point range and the free throw line.

LeBron was much more efficient than Bird from two-point range both for peak and for career.

I don’t think it’s easier to score now than it was in the 80s.

Onepunch, do you think that LeBron, both for peak and career, was/is a better defender than Bird?

Can we agree on that and file that part away?

The scoreboards suggest otherwise.

Pretty sure we already have.

LeBron was a very good defender.

I think Bird’s competitiveness and overall tenacity help close the gap though.

I think that while the defense has improved since the 80s, so has the offense, and so we can see higher scoring games even though the defense is better. If the defense has improved, but the offense has improved by an even bigger margin, you can have high scoring games despite the improvement in the defense.
