That guy has some great videos. Went down a rabbit hole a few weeks ago looking at his stuff on old school judo, catch, Sambo, military hand to hand, etc.

The good old days.
Being in the martial arts scene in the 90’s was fantastic. Lots of the myth/mystique of ‘secret techniques’ and other TMA bullshit were fading away, and BJJ/UFC/MMA were emerging…along with their own myths/mystique!
There was a time when Rickson was considered invincible, so people went nuts for ANY video clips with him in it.

All it means is Rickson had better newaza than the Japanese did. It probably wouldn’t be like that now because Judo has evolved.
