ARe they related to The Puma ?

Bo Basset and Marcus Blaze had a close match.

Well, if you don’t take Blaze’s big 4 pt move at the end of the first. Blaze takes it 5-1

Blaze snaps and gets Bo’s head. Marcus runs behind and takes his back, Bo drops to a low quad pod and Blaze takes him for a ride for 4.

i actually watched that…

bassett just does not have a real committed attack other than pace…

all the young guys… lilledahl, blaze, forrest, duke… they all have improved technically and bassett still wrestles the exact same way he has for years…

when lilledahl absolutely hulk smashed him 2 straight at cadet world team trials you would think someone would have pulled him aside and explained some things…

maybe they tried…

who knows…

absolutely nothing against the kid… he is going to win a ton of matches with his style… against the best he is going to continue to fall short unless he grows technically…

ha…

i lived in tulsa for 40 years…

quick recap of the finals…

65kg- woods looked very good… jumped out to a big lead early… had a quick single that he got the go behind for a TD and then went big chest wrap for 4 right after and was 6-0 in less than a minute and that is the way it ends in the first… the second period was hardy just trying to come back… gets a step out that was not called a step out at the end of the period… reffing was very inconsistent with stopping scramble positions as well… woods gets a go behind and a turn with a pretty decent looking gut… 10-1… gave up some junk late and final score was 10-6 but hardy was never really in the match…

70kg- duke and andonian was a pretty good match with some good defense by both… lots of action but not a lot of scoring… duke wins 4-1 and looked really good doing it…

74kg- carr and jacques… incredibly dull match… carr wins 2-0 both shot clock points…

79kg- haines and hamiti… was close in the first period… but haines ran away with it second period and won handily 10-2

86kg- other than 65kg the only match a really paid attention to… it was fairly dull match until last minute… neither really taking any committed attacks… score was 1-1 both shot clock points… they were about to put star on the clock again but dake gets in deep on a high crotch… scramble ensues and dake comes out on top to go ahead 3-1… dake does not attempt any par terre just burn clock… 45 seconds left… dake gets on his bike and runs… restarts he is trying to be clever circling behind the ref with a big silly grin before the ref blows whistle for the restart… star finally decides to try and do something with jazz hands and gets a single but dake fights it off fairly easy… 10 seconds left and dake goes straight back and steps out and finally they call him caution and 1 for fleeing… 3-3 dake ahead on criteria with 6 seconds left… star gets to an ankle and lifts dake up and drops him on his butt but only has his legs as time expires… no call on the mat but refs confer and then they award star the TD and put points on the board 5-3… brick… definitely not a TD in free and challenge lost so match ends 4-3… dake running was a horrible look…

got a phone call and missed the rest of the matches but…

92kg- barr drops sinclair 7-3…

97kg- zillmer drops aiello 5-3…

125kg- hillger drops thomas 10-4…

final x matchups- obvious asterisk at 97kg awaiting snyder’s safe sport suspension…

I’m happy to see Woods bouncing back after underperforming during his last NCAA season and tourney. I am a bit shocked it is with CKWT and not HWC. But its working for him, he’s back to his aggressive self, eager to get a head start in the score. He has some holes he had exposed yesterday, but he is proving to be formidable. I love his top game right now, he was great with tilts in folkstyle too.

Final X is going to be a few fantastic hours of wrestling.

my phone call was way more interesting than any of the matches…

a buddy in OK whose kid is at the OTC for greco…

i had seen it somewhere that the raney’s said okie state was going to start doing greco and i hit him up on text…

long phone conversation that covered many topics…

the raney’s were definitely offered a big bag and was 100% more than iowa was offering… DT snuck in at stroke of midnight and bought them from iowa…

another mutual friend is good friends with medlin and apparently he was super pissed thinking IL really had a shot at them… laughable to me becasue IL has no money, but, medlin really thought the his greco roots would sway them…

i have spent time around medlin several years ago… a really solid dude, but, he tried to show some greco to otto when he was 15 and even from the sidelines i was horrified… the look on otto’s face told me he was as well… seeing what richards had for max and it confirms to me that medlin’s greco chops are not chops at all…

my guy talked to several donors of the program and they said CWC is going to do greco…

we both agreed that who could they possibly get as a coach?

the only answer would be joe warren, but, DT’s arrogance would never mesh with joe… it took gilman less than a year to GTFO… no way joe’s personality would mesh with smarmy DT… DT does not want anyone who even think of trying to overshadow anything he does… it is why roper was the perfect hire for the CWC… that dude has no ego at all and only cares about wrestling… he is a true wrestling nerd and the biggest reason UNI has looked so good the last few years…

and who is CWC going to bring in as partners?

there is no one they could bring in who competes because they would wreck the raneys… otto used to abuse them at camps couple of years ago before he outgrew them… max would absolutely kill them… i am not sure that richards would not abuse them… OSU is not going to bring in anyone that would take shine off their new recruits which means those boys will never progress in greco… which i doubt OSU cares one lick about…

it will be interesting to see what happens…

woods was no doubt the eye opener of the tourney for me…

i have no clue why woods did not stick around in iowa, but, CKWC has a great RTC with lots of foreigners who come in and out…

i have been around ringer and love that dude… great dude and my guess is he is probably a good coach and i know keith jackson’s athletes love him…

and no one could argue with results because woods looked really good…

i hope he puts it to mckenna and is our rep because when mckenna seems to just be too inconsistent internationally…
