My son was in a weak ass bracket at his tournament and qualified for the next one at state college in mid April. All of the hammers he normally wrestles were up an age bracket for this one.

That is true. Apparently he has been wrestling only older kids some 2 yrs older because of exact birth dates. I only say that because when you are 9 wrestling an 11yr old is a pretty big difference. But he still handles it well either way.

most folk tourneys use September as the cut off dateā¦
It always felt like he was wrestling from behindā¦
All I can say is youth wrestling doesnāt matter at allā¦
I see so many kids both boys wrestled throughout the years fall off in HS or totally disappearā¦

All littered with names I rememberā¦
The other half them I do notā¦
Youth wrestling is 100% dependent on who matures physically or mentally fasterā¦
I used to think nothing matters until HSā¦
Now I KNOW nothing matters until you make it past HSā¦
The only lasting impact of youth wrestling is building a love for the sport and competing in generalā¦

That can be built through wins and lossesā¦
Max did not a win a match the first 2-1/2 years of wrestlingā¦
Now all he does is get paid to travel the world and competeā¦

Fight broke out in the Consi Semiās of the Cal State Meet. Guy who was down on points eye gouged his opponent and then threw a knee in his face when the guy shot in. Hands were thrown and one kid was DQād.

At a time when both boys stopped competing locally Otto wrestled a local kid at an RMNā¦
Kid was getting destroyed and head scissored in a matchā¦
Otto just pointed to it and then kid scissored him after the whistleā¦
Pissed me straight the fuk offā¦
The next weekend we went to that kids local just beat his ass down againā¦
Otto knew the mission and instigated a bit during the matchā¦

Dudes fat ass dad got all mouthy and we met at the scorers table and I calmly told him I would whip his ass right here in front of his entire familyā¦
I have not been a real fight since I was 15 years oldā¦

When I was Coaching Hs I became Head Coach at 22 years old. I had my last MMA fight in August, and was Coaching in December. At a Dual meet two kids got into it and when it was broken up
I was called to the Head Table by the Official Rick Tucci. Rick Is the highest ranking Official in the world at the time. He officiated the Head Table at the Olympics and stuff. Iāve known him since I was a mat-rat at like 7-8 years old.
Anyway, the opposing Coach comes to the table and I asked about a penalty because their athlete swung first. The Coach gets loud and says āThatās how we roll around here. Iāll take you outside and kick the shit outta you too!ā
I smiled and walked towards the door of the gym. Tucci yells out āWhere you going?ā. I said āIām going outside. I could use a good ass kicking. Itās been a whileā. The other Coach starts coming towards me and Tucci says āWhat should we tell your kids?ā The other guy says āAbout what?ā And Tucci says āabout why their father is a vegetable nowā.
Then he tells the guy how badly heās about to get his shit pushed in and the guy fucking comes across center mat and publicly apologizes to me. It was the strangest things Iāve seen in wrestling. The guy used the announcer mic and everything. What a nutless cowardā¦
Iāve done a lot of crazy shit. Mooned refs. Stopped matches. Made entire opposing teams quit mid-dual. But that was the most cowardly thing I ever saw in the sport.
