A dual meet against PSU would be a lot closer if all those guys were in the lineup. Almost no chance that Iowa wins, but still it would be a far more respectable showing than this year. Now imagine if they’d have fought to keep Bassett….. then you have yourself a dual meet.
I don’t know, man. Ultimately, AJ is absurdly powerful, has solid (though not that exciting) technique, and he moves WAY better at 197 than he does at HWT. I don’t see anyone at 197 mauling him. Bar may win, but it would likely be pretty close. Not to mention, to get back down to 197, his cardio will be full blast.
The only person I can think of is Starocci, but that’s mostly speculation. Downey very publicly did things. Our old buddy on the other forum knew all about the stuff he had done. Most, if not all of Downey’s issues are self inflicted. Instead of acting like an asshole and blaming everyone else, if he manned up and took responsibility for the problems he’s caused himself, people wouldn’t cheer when he got his face rearranged in Bellator. He got knocked out by a guy who lost to the tomato can Nickal beat in his MMA debut.

this is the same time that AJ and Anthony were heading down to florida quite a bit being paid by a dude to coach their son… this same dude “allegedly” got beat up behind a strip club and had his car stolen, 75K in cash, a bunch of his sons clothes and stuff stolen… it was originally said it was done by both AJ and Anthony, but, i believe it was later confirmed by this dude that it was only anthony… i have heard both versions…
regardless, both brothers showed up back at iowa couple of days later and were gone from campus shortly thereafter…
i asked my buddy who was taking otto and his son up to iowa for a few different things quite a bit what the brands were saying about the whole situation…
he said the brands would not even say their names… they were that done with them both…
add in the fact the AD would not sign off on either of the other brothers and still says she will not as per AJ himself…
i would be absolutely shocked if he ends up back at iowa even though they could definitely use him… it is just not how the brands operate…

Yeah but Brooks getting busted twice isn’t a big deal. He got suspended and that’s it. It’s cheating sure, but it’s not on the same level as some of the dumb shit Downey did. Also the big difference is, Brooks admitted he fucked up and took it. Downey has consistently blamed everyone else for his own problems. Nothing is ever his fault.

the only thing he has doubled down on publicly is the shocking hypocrisy of USAW and Flo they display all the time… PDIII got suspended by USAW for his opinions alone…
the number of people with actual safe sport violations lodged against them that USAW has absolutely refused to even investigate is shocking…

There’s 3 Ferrari bros, right? Angelo is at Iowa now at 184. I’ve not heard anything negative about him at all. AJ is well known, as are the allegations he had against him. The other brother was at Campbell. Now, the two Not at Iowa are both in the Portal. If I were Brands I’d be asking myself this question-
If one school gets BOTH the other Ferrari’s, how long will the one at Iowa stay there? He’s got 3 years of eligibility left now, right?? They may not feel like they gain a lot with AJ, but what do they lose if he leaves?
