Otto was always same age group, but, Haakon was always considerably bigger when they were really little…
I think they might have been in the same bracket at some point, but, i don’t think they ever actually wrestled as they were passing each other in weight…
an amusing story…
i took otto to go do a Sebolt camp years ago… last day of the camp TJ had otto wrestling with a teammate that was also there… so, i slipped the shoes and walked onto the mat and told TJ, dude, we practice with this kid every day… he got what i was asking…
split them up and put Haakon with otto… Hakkon was probably 20lbs heavier and was visibly angry he was being forced to practice with otto and went full meathead on him… just beating the shit out of him… pushing into the wall… trying to make him quit… otto just took it and would smile at him which made him even more mad…
me and a buddy were laughing about it afterwards… otto practiced everyday with the meanest kid ever… they would comes to blows almost every practice at some point… this was a tuesday for otto…
i am not sure i knew that was haakon at the time, but, when otto was at iowa haakon brought it up…

pretty sure dean peterson wrestled considerably heavier than 25s when he was in high school…
max after his senior year won fargo and was still wrestling 120…

anyway, i asked otto if dean was at iowa when he was there to see if he was involved in any of the greco shenanigans…
he was not…
he is at Max’s weight… Max #1 domestically…

I agree with most of the changes but an athlete should not be penalized for representing our country in the Olympics, IMHO. or at least be compensated for the lost NIL money if we are going to keep that in play. Pandora’s box has been opened on the NIL score and it will never go away. I can envision a few fanatic,very rich donors paying athletes not to do the Olympics and compete for the university during that year. There is more to be done to clean up the whole transfer and NIL mess they created.
