he proved he could beat Ildar which was huge, but, still not what he wanted…
another tourney full of big highs and big lows…

chatted with the boy this morning…
2 weeks in iowa and he is weighing more than he ever has in his life while working out harder than he ever has in his life…
67kg here we come… he might have to make a real cut in the spring to get there…

Is he planning to redshirt or jump right into the lineup?
grey shirt this year… getting his grades in order at the community college…
with the roster limits coming into effect in '25 (all that happened after him and iowa had a plan) he isn’t guaranteed a spot, but, he decided to go out there and show them he is worth the risk…
since worlds and it being known he is back on the folk scene, other colleges have reached out, but, he isn’t really interested in wrestling folk for anyone other than iowa…
if it doesn’t work out, he has options…

No rush brother. I’m just stoked that I have even a tangential connection. As I’ve gotten older, there’s no one left from my competition days who is still competing. Shit… most of my friends sons are done with college too. It feels good to have some one on that mat that I can feel invested in.

i am not a fan of counter wrestling per se, but, that kid stays in your face the entire time and slow burns the pressure…

RIP, that’s a bummer. Read he developed some sort of infection while hospitalized. Just had a daughter this year too. Tragic story.

Sounds about right. Guarabtee that the Croatian team and other Eastern Eiro guys have a scale.
it is +2 and he isn’t really worried about it…
it just never ceases to blow me away that an entire team, athletes and coaches, can fly to the other side of the world and no one brings a damn scale…

It’s tough to bring one. Especially nowadays. International travel with a large piece of electronic equipment between countries and through a number of aircraft changes complicates the situation. Remember- personal devices get checked by airport security. A scale or bigger than carry on size so it has to be checked in and go through the regular security processes for luggage.
i had a $20 target scale that would fit in a backpack and went all over the country while maintaining relatively good calibration for years…
