2025 NCAA Wrestling Thread

One interesting note…

Max and Ildar are figuring it out…

They have been hanging out and working on some wrestling…

Just polar opposites personality wise, but, some mutual respect has been built…

I am not mad at that…

Roberts comes back from down 7-0 in the first to win 13-10 against the Georgian…

The Georgian was tired in the first and Roberts wore him down with pace…

Max is pumped to wrestle that dude…

Abuladze wrestling up at 67kg just had a close win 6-6 with a YOLO brick to make it 7-6…

Mad craziness…

Peak picks up a win against Italy…

PJ drops a tough match 3-2 against a giant… that kid is awfully short for 87kg… barely taller than max… he’s a damn fire hydrant

Melelashvili (Georgian now wrestling for USA) picks up a dominant 8-1 win…

That kid looks the part…

Abuladze goes to 3rd par terre to pick up a win…

No matter what your girl tells you, size matters…

Ildar gets dropped 2-0 against Ukraine…

Got his 3rd par terre, but could not capitalize…

Melelashvili goes down to Germany 6-2… stepped over a gut in the first and stuck Germany but the challenge clearly showed he blocked off on the hip…

That kid will be interesting to watch in Albania and moving on…

Where there is respect, there can be growth. Sometimes your biggest rivals are the ones with whom you can make the most substantial progress. Good for both of them- being big enough to help one another grow for the betterment of their sport.

Peak goes down 3-2 to Croatia…

Abuladze has a bit of an easier match and rolls 9-1… watching him up a weights has been good stuff… he is class…

PJ uncorks a head lock for 4 with about 20 seconds left to take bronze…

Peak brings home bronze with a gritty 3-2 win over Switzerland…

Melelashvili gets a first period tech for bronze…

Challenge on what looked like live offensive legs took score to 11-3 to end it…

Finals don’t start for hours…

Seems a little silly, but, apparently there is going to be a bit of a production…

The Georgian max has was U23 World Champ last year, so, it will be a good opportunity…

6 out of 7 Americans guaranteed a medal…

This tourney is brand new and did not draw the entries they hoped for, but, any international medals for US Greco is a good thing…

Just found out my middle/high school wrestling coach passed away after battling Alzheimer’s the last few years. He wasn’t the best coach on the planet, but he was a helluva man that was there for us everyday. He shaped us into men and taught us about hard work and strong character and the lessons learned in that wrestling room are still carried with me some 35 years later. RIP Coach.

Serious question. My father was a High School Coach and he passed away from heart attack as well as advanced dementia this past week. I’m curious if he was your Coach. Where did you go to school, if you don’t mind sharing.

Ah. Wasn’t him. I’m sorry about your Coach, bro.

Sadly it wasn’t really a loss. He was not really a part of my life for at least 15 years. When he was a part of my life he was a monster in almost every imaginable way. His death brought me closure. Trying to work through the bs details with my siblings now. Our stepmom is still alive and she is every bit as awful as he was.
