I’ve never been a Bo fan, it’s the Blue and White..

I was happy to see him lose, in Iowa.

Bo’s biggest problem in this fight was that he has clearly not done any work with good clinch guys. He’s playing that lazy hips back and shallow underhook way too much. You have to have hips in Greco posture on the cage if the other guy knows what he’s doing. Even when he had RDR on the fence was taking more damage because he just doesn’t understand how to adapt his posture when strikes are involved.

This is why I’m always harping about Greco being the best base for MMA of the wrestling sports. Good Thais and Greco guys (or a few Dutch folks like Alistair and to a much lesser extent RDR) will eat you alive if you play with a bent posture.

i dont hate him but he is very cocky without backing it up in mma Calling out Khamzat etc Tried to say he cut 35 pound in a week total lie to try sound bigger because RDR was huge,.He was destroyed and out wrestled as well He had 1 takedown and reversed pinned and gassed in 1 round Then when going got tough he wilted,He needs to re group and wrestle not kick box

I saw him on the scale and he hadn’t even cut 10% body weight. And he looks soft. RDR looked sunken in and shredded on the scales like a guy who takes fighting seriously, cuts the right amount of weight, and got his body fat percentage where it should be to be in the UFC.

i was a fan until heard him talk and brag .He obviously has great wrestling talent but for whatever reason avoids ground game.Everyone loses in mma so its probly best thing to happen to him.As a wrestling and penn state fan i was hoping hed do well But IMO he needed and got Humble Pie

I knew when he started fighting and just trained at that new ATT by Penn State instead of going to one of the established gyms in that area with real coaches he was going to have problems.

And when he rolled up a bunch of 45 year old hobbiest dads and posted a bunch of video’s talking shit about “I went to a BJJ gym and beat everyone up”

There are several gyms around there he could have gone to if he wanted real hard training. He’s never stepped foot in any of them. He works out with his buddies and then pops into ATT to network and brand build.

I’ll stop derailing with my Bo rants lol.

I do want the record to show I’m not a fair weather fan though and I’ve disliked him for a while. The first time I remember interacting with LJB was us arguing about how Bo would do.

To be honest, his raw talent got him farther than I thought it would. I thought he would lose to Craig.

its comments like i went to BJJ gym and beat everybody first day,Gym must not be elite,When i trained at Serras Chris Wiedman was there First day he dominated 90 percent of gym But tthere were guys who could sub him ,But he did not go home or online and brag He was humble liked and because of that learned and after 2 years hes was top1 percent at Serras

he is fighting on raw talent alone and he has a ton but at this level it is not enough.Look at Pico he started slow but took a lot of fights and improved his game,

I know the guys at the gym where Aaron Brooks and his brother do BJJ and MMA stuff. I think Aaron has only rolled a couple times but it’s a very legit gym with guys who can sub him. Same coach that Kerkvliet went to when he did CJI. The fact that Kerkvliet didn’t get finished at CJI and played inside Fellipe Andrew’s guard for 15 minutes is a testament to the guys he chose to train with.

Bo could have gone there. He decided to focus on going on podcasts.

I guess that was the 1st time he’s ever lost there.

when Wiedman came to serras he was rolling with everyone and anyone. And got very good very fast.I fir sure wanted no part of him plus hes way bigger than me and better.I dont mind the better part but when u add his size hes a handful ,same with Bo who I think is slightly smaller than Wiedman,Even though im not a fan of his he does represent wrestling so i like to see him do well.,If he doesnt take it more serious he will not do well at UFC level

Yeah I’ve heard from a good friend of mine that was around Serra’s that Weidman was a fast learner and good student when he started training there.

Same friend who 4 years ago convinced me a I needed to start studying wrestling a ton and learn how to wrestle up and pass off leg entanglements. One of the first things I did to get up on wrestling was sub to the old version of this thread.

Yeah…

I was super high on Bo when he first came in…

Not that he still can’t be champ…

But this BS with the weight cut… either it’s true and he’s is clearly not disciplined enough to take this seriously, or, it’s total BS for whatever end game and that is clearly a worse look…

Maybe this is just not for him…

Yeah he looked to me like a guy who cut around 8% of his weight on the scales. So probably was actually around 199-201 before the water cut.

RDR looks like he was probably around 210. Bo doesn’t even look like he had a real cut.

The facts are he is an incredible talent, and that he didn’t take the competition as serious as he should have.

Luckily, the most damage he has today is just a bruised ego and body.

How he bounces back from this will determine how far he will end up succeeding in the UFC.

Part of me hopes he finds success and we find more college folk guys transition to MMA post college.

But I wouldn’t be mad if he is not cut out for it and hit the wall in MMA.

Just watched the fight…

Bo looked uninterested at best…

And I don’t want to say he gave up because there is just no telling what was going on, but, none of those shots seemed to be KO shots… on the surface it appeared he wanted out…

crab’s comment the clinch and WW comments on how wrestlers playing the bad kick boxing game are both 100% spot on…
