i was suprised he sat there grimmicing in pain by body shots He not used to being the nail One of the first things I learned from Matt Serra were i trained was You cant always be the hammer sometimes you have to be the nail.If u can come back from being the nail u will do ok

I’d really like to see our country push Greco more. The greco coaches I’ve worked with have been way more helpful for MMA grappling. There’s just so little interest in greco in a lot of areas, even PA.

Through all those years paying attention to youth wrestling, I never put too much stock into a kid until I saw him come from behind in a match to win…

The Greco mentality is closer to a fight mentality than either free or folk…

It will be very interesting to see what happens to collegiate wrestling in the next few years… NIL is out of control, the roster limits are going to be a huge issue, all the revenue sharing and money that is going to be spent from all the lawsuits is going to put a bunch of programs under the squeeze…

Club wrestling could take a much more prevalent role going forward like it does all over the rest of the world…

Who knows what that will mean, but, international styles could very well be the best path…

haven’t been paying too much attention to this, but, 65kg might be interesting… blaze and gross both bumping…

what i find more interesting is Senior Pan Ams is this weekend… Lockett is our rep for 74kg…

no other senior wanted this quick turn around…

Messenbrink, Carr, and Monday would have all turned it down…

speaking of Pan Ams, just checked entry list…

55kg only has Raney and Mata from Mexico… Mata did win gold at U23 Pan Ams in a very light field…

max has a 7 man bracket with a couple of former Pan Am medalists and one Ven who took 5th at U23 worlds last year…

Beka only has 2 others at 82kg…

cuba sending a very minimal team, but, Orta at 67kg is among them… Orta is an Olympic gold and bronze and world gold medalist… he is no joke…

A real competitor is not defined by their wins. They are defined by their setbacks and losses. This may actually be the best thing that ever happens to Bo Nickal. We will see how he responds to this sort of adversity and see how he responds now that his mettle has been tested.

Orta is a fucking beast bro.

He disgraced America and Wrestling with that performance, that is a lot to rebound from.

i was out to dinner with 3 college wrestlers last night…

it did not even come up…

only thing bo disgraced was himself… we will see what happens next…

whatever that is, wrestling could not care less…

I’m not going to lie..

If Bo goes in 100%, gets real serious training (even if it means he finds it at another gym). Gets back on the horse, shows fight IQ (uses his wrestling) and starts climbing the ladder again..

I will root for him.

But it won’t happen for his next scrap, Nickal has to sell himself to me with his next effort in the cage for me to give him support moving forward.

I don’t think he embarrassed wrestling, he barely used it that fight..

Don’t want to derail thread.

This is the only updates for wrestling that I check in on.

OP stays neutral reporting on and describing matches even when the youngsters are involved.

You ever fought, bro?

being great at wrestlng doesnt always apply to being great at MMA But if u have a pedigree like Bo or most NCAA winners you have a big advantage to start with. Also some dont like to get hit some dont mind like Justin G,Coutore,Chandler,Henderson But some dont like to get hit like a Ben Askren and Id have to add Bo to that .Bo should do what he does best which is wrestle and encorperate good submissions Origmbally he was taking guys down and subbing them I think hes apprehensive to get hit or subbed Which isnt good .IMO his standup for UFC is terrible. He should do what does best take down get good position look for sub or ground and pound,Not kickbox. If he gets subbed by a good grappler so be it But hes not winning any title on his feet and now people will be going after him,He also looked gassed,

i think everyone also has to consider that every meat head fan in those arenas boo anytime a match hits the ground…

they want to see sloppy kick boxing and not grappling…

that means something to the UFC and also means that if a wrestler comes in and uses his wrestling to win like everyone says he should, he is going to get booed…

fighters who get booed rarely make it to title shots…
