Gua sha is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practice in which a tool (jade, stone, bone, etc …) is used to scrape peoples back in order to produce light bleeding under the skin. They believe it releases unhealthy blood stuff and stimulates new oxygenated blood flow (healing).
scraping was just to painful. didnt notice any benefit. there was no after pain. only hurt during.
i used to get a minimum of 2 massages a week for almost 20 years. 1 foot, 1 back. as you get used to them, you need it harder and harder. it got to the point where they could do those massages as hard as they could and it felt good.
cupping was only a little bit painful, but i would notice my back would feel better than normal the next. only did cupping a few times a year.
You can almost do it yourself or have your wife do it. You can buy stainless steel scrappers on Amazon and watch videos. I don’t think you can fuck it up.
Yeah I made me up one of the scrapers and used it for a while.
I did it to my traps, pecs, and lats. I have the tim-tam attachment that is supposed to be for that but I found it works better if I just take it off the tim tam and use it manually.
What I need is one of them wife things lol. I’m single now and despite my best efforts, I can’t teach the dog how to work it and use it on my back.
I’ve seriously drawn up a few sets of plans for contraptions that either use pneumatics, hydraulics, or just electric actuators to do it lol. I’ve mentioned this in another back pain thread but if CrabScissors ever is found dead strangled or crushed under some hydraulic contraption, I want everyone to know it was not a suicide and just me doing reckless shit to try to help my neck and back lol.
