Trying to have any kind of discussion with MA people always turns into a pissing contest or having people with NO direct experience with what you are discussing shitting on you because they don’t understand what you are saying , make zero effort to understand and are very close minded and have NO CLUE about any arts other than their own
Schooling these clowns the mat is always a hoot, but getting them on the mat is impossible esp in a global discussion group
I trained with a guy that was second Dan in aikido. He never got me in a wrist look. He was a good guy, he was open to cross training and adding to his game.
1999-2001 range, I went to where my buddy trained “ninjitsu” the teacher was trained by my BJJ coach who had switched over to BJJ.
The teacher was cool as hell, went super hard grappling with me and every time I tapped him he was super cool and wanted to know how I got him.
His dorky students weren’t as cool, the teacher had me go with them and obviously I tapped them super quick and they hated it.
They all were talking shit, “if we could do kicks” and the whole “broken glass and concrete” arguement.
I eventually got annoyed and said we could start standing, strikes included but if they could kick full force I could apply submissions full force, no tapping.
The parking lot was all rocks, I also said we could do all this in the parking lot on the sharp rocks.
