— Do you consider Fedor one of the greatest heavyweights in MMA history? — Ariel Helwani asked.
— Of course not. He never competed in the UFC, only fought in Pride, where at that time there were no doping tests. Six fights in a year — that sounds suspicious. Without “medical support”, in my opinion, that is impossible, especially if we are talking about six wins, — said Arlovski.
— If someone considers him the greatest — please. In the same way, they can consider me an idiot. I don’t mind. It’s just my opinion, — he added.
Lol everyone is fighting under same rules. Its not like fedor could take shit and his opponents could not. Pride had way stronger HW division at the time as well. Fedor beat half a dozen UFC champs.
Yes there was no testing, but it was legal and we knew for sure it was a level playing field.
Just weird when Andrei WAS in the UFC, but lost to Fedor pretty quickly. Its almost as if being in the UFC doesnt dictate how great of a fighter you actually are…
Weird. I remember Fedor shutting Arlovski’s lights off. And both were still in their physical primes, maybe Fedor was near the end of his prime but he was still in it.
So if Fedor wasn’t great, what does that make Andrei?
(both were great imo, but only one of them is constantly brought up in the GOAT discussion.)
Knocked him out in less than two minutes when Arlovski randomly decided to see if he could fly and thus jumped a couple feet in the air immediately before getting knocked out.
