It ain’t the age it’s the mileage.
Zombie Nog was an obviously different fighter in the UFC, so much so that he had to change his striking style because of slowed reflex.
Without rewatching every fight after Fedor – Tim Sylvia did significant damage IIRC.
Also, Nog had a staph infection leading up to the first Mir fight.
Nothing against Mir, I like him, and he’s one of the best opportunistic finishers ever.
But IMO Pride era Nog beats any version of Mir.

Mir had some rough losses here and there but when on form he was a top 10-15 all time head to head HW imo.

He kind of looked like shit at her Contender fight.
Shaky hands and a weird posture.
I remember that foreign heavyweight boxer slamming Mir with multiple KO shots to his head. Frank was out, but his brain didn’t work well enough to compute that he’s supposed to fall down. Just standing like zombie.
Dude had to back off and ask the ref to stop it.

Mir might have never come back from a good shot, but he seems to have almost always gotten pounded out to Bolivia.
It’s not like he got hit with a good shot, then started tapping.
In fact, I’d wager the fact that he was a decent star and former champion made refs let him take much more punishment than he should have to give him a chance.

He was a very hot and cold fighter. One fight he would look like an unstoppable world-beater. The next fight, he’d get crushed in brutal fashion.
