I just threw it out there, I’ve never made a list but he’d be up there
Fedor
Cro Cop
Big Nog
Werdum
Barnett
Couture
Cain
Overeem
Sylvia
Arlovski
Mir
That’s off the top of my head and I’m unable to think of anyone else right now without checking records
I have no idea what order you’d put those guys in outside of Fedor but you also have guys like Stipe, JDS DC, Francis, etc… who were all UFC champs, I guess you’d have to put most of them ahead of Mir. I was thinking skill wise but I don’t think he fought enough to keep up resume wise
It’s really weird imo to put your dad’s health issues out there like that. Between her and her mom it appears they have a couple nutcases in the Mir family.
I remember the Carwin stoppage being bad. Mir took 4 or 5 hard hooks while being face down when Shane had back mount. Pretty sure Mir was out after the first one or two
Mir had problems with powerful/aggressive fighters who could force his back to the cage.
He’s better out in space, where he wants to end up in transition on the ground, and his opponent might give him something to capitalize on.
He was a brilliant submission finisher, if not really the best all around grappler.
He also developed pretty good “technical brawling” later in his career.
But vs guys who were powerful and aggressive from the clinch, he was apt to be exposed.
Guys like Barnett and Fedor were always going to beat him.
