To compensate for the loss of independent sponsorship income, David Feldman and Conor McGregor announced a historic Fighter Equity Plan in July 2025. Under this plan, long-tenured fighters (those with 10+ fights) and all champions (World and UK) were granted immediate equity in the company, making them partial owners.

To gain equity, you need at least 10x fights, be a defending champion, or receive a discretionary performance bonus, for which the piece of equity will likely be minuscule.
But floating this as an alternative to allowing fighters to actually earn is legendary gaslighting.
You can’t pay your bills with BKFC equity. Imagine going to a bank to get a loan, and then trying to put up your sliver of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship as collateral.
Same promotion that allegedly coaxed Edgar out of retirement by dangling a big paycheck in front of him, then cut him from the show and sent him packing because it was too expensive to book him.

Edgar was very outspoken about it when shit went down.
According to him, they were playing a bunch of games with him in the final stretch heading into the fight, like not providing his medicals to the NJSAC and then trying to get him to go to NY for a second round of medical tests, even though the fight was in Newark.
The company telling him Feldman was out of the country but couldn’t talk to him because he didn’t have a phone??? LOL.
His conclusion is ticket sales were softer than expected, so they pulled him to cut their losses as they only paid him a portion of his purse.
