After a remarkable amateur MMA career representing Cuba which included a Silver Medal at the Olympics in Sydney, Australia, Yoel Romero fought extensively in the UFC and Bellator finishing with a record of 17-7 including 14 victories by knockout. Making his BKFC debut in front of a sold-out crowd at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL on September 12, 2025, Romero stopped Theo Doukas in the second round.

David Feldman is a worse promoter then Scott Coker & Bjorn Rembey
Honestly he could end up winning an anticlimactic dull (by bareknuckle standards) decision. Neither guy pushes the pace very much and Yoel is nearly 50 years old.
Scott is hot and cold. Strikeforce was great but he turned Bellator into a retirement home.
I think he had nothing to do with why strikeforce was successful. They happened to be local to one of the best MMA camps in the world with a large amount of top talent. Combine that with timing and mass exodus of top talent from pride. Then combine that with their TV/event production being done by showtime. They knew how to make a fight look great on TV. Having done live sports and fighting at the highest levels production wise. Strikeforce put out a better TV product than UFC did at the same time. That was all Showtime. The top talent was because of them being local to AKA and maybe some other camps and then pride exodus.
I guess you can give coker credit for those things if he made those decisions but I don’t know if he actually did. But that’s hard (basically impossible) to reproduce that kind of thing.
