Butterbean was the man!

He got in shape a few years ago with DDP.

I had a friend who fought Butterbean. He also fought Vitali Kitchko, and a bunch of names you’d definitely recognize.

Who would still knock our dicks in the dirt. I hope his health and mobility have gotten better. King of the 4 rounders!

Oh shit, I checked Ed White’s record - he got beat by the Bean twice, almost a decade apart!

Although is record sucks - is Ed White supposed to be anyone special? I mean besides having gotten beat by the Bean twice.

I don’t why my mind immediately went to Ed Lover when reading the thread title.

Nope. He was just a heavyweight opponent who was used to get other better heavyweights a quick win. Nothing more than that. I think he was recruited from semi-pro basketball or football.

You knew Louis? That’s cool.

It’s too bad he wasn’t brought along by a manager/promoter who took their time with him because he had some potential.
I don’t think he had an amateur career & he had one win to credit when they threw him in there with the then-14-0 Butter bean & he was stopped in the first round. After which, he won & lost a string of about seven or eight fights before being put in with the 40-2 Peter McNeely in his comeback fight following his fight with Mike Tyson. Louis was thought to be as easy mark, but Louis beat the daylights out of McNeely & KO’d him in the fifth round.

That result got him a match with former heavyweight champ, Trevor Berbick & he lost a close decision over 10 rounds. Two more losses to top contenders followed but then he knocked out the 19-0 prospect, Kevin McBride, who a few years later go onto stop Mike Tyson.
Louis followed that up with another big upset when he beat another former heavyweight champion, Michael Dokes. Which earned him a shot at yet another former champ in Buster Douglas & he KO’d Douglas in the opening round. Unfortunately, the punch came right at the bell & the commission screwed Louis by ruling that he landed it after the bell & DQ’d him.

That result stopped all the momentum Louis had built up & he lost the vast majority of the rest of his fights. But a lot of those losses came against top contenders like Vitali Klitschko, Monte Barrett & Lamon Brewster. He finished with a 16-39-5 ( 8 KOs ) record.

Ya I used to spar with him when I was in the amateurs and we didn’t have a lot of good big guys. He was really strong but not very tall, especially as a heavyweight. He could really punch though. He didn’t fight as an amateur and kept a full time job at a moving company. He moved furniture all day and trained at night. He loved MMA. Super nice guy. Pretty quiet. Felt pretty bad for him after he got DQd against Buster. That would have been a big moment for him.

No just the super heavyweight division always being very shallow.

Haven’t spoken to him in a long time. No idea if he’s even still alive or where he’s at if he is.

He looked good a few months back. I got his auto on a card from his Wrestlemania appearance knocking out Bart Gunn.
