Henry Cejudo insists his accomplishments surpass Khabib Nurmagomedov’s.
Cejudo captured both the UFC flyweight and bantamweight titles, becoming one of few simultaneous champions in the promotion. The Olympic gold medalist wrestler successfully notched a title defense in each division, and his resume includes wins over the likes of former champions Demetrious Johnson, T.J. Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz.
Nurmagomedov retired as an undefeated UFC lightweight champion with title defenses over Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.
“He has not done enough. I’ve told this to Khabib,” Cejudo said on his “Pound 4 Pound” podcast with Kamaru Usman. "I don’t want to fight with the dude, but I remember we had a really heated conversation between us because I don’t put Khabib in front of me. I really don’t.
“If Khabib would have went up a couple of weight classes, with what he’s done, then yeah, you would have to, in the fashion that he’s done it. But if he could have done a little bit more – I truly do believe that Khabib would do some amazing things. I think he could stylistically win a title at 185 pounds, even being a '55’er.”
Nurmagomedov’s protege, Islam Makhachev, will look to capture a second UFC belt when he challenges Jack Della Maddalena in the UFC 322 headliner Nov. 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
puzzling guy but you can pull all sorts of shit out your ass with the p4p discussions.
both retired too early; only one came back to fuck their legacy l
No doubt Khabib had the skills to be among the GOAT talk. But retiring in your prime at 31? Nope. Easy to stay undefeated when you dont fight.
I generally rank the GOATs based off of total title defenses and while Khabib did retire early, he still has 1 more defense than Cejudo.
Neither should be in the discussion though.
I judge by win quality.
Khabib:
Gaethje
Poirier
McGregor
dos Anjos
Barboza
Johnson
Iaquinta
Henry:
DJ
Dillashaw
Cruz (though he was washed and injury riddled by then)
Benavidez (giving him this because I thought he won)
Moraes
Formiga
Neither near the top. I’d put Merab above them both already.
Double Champ
Gold Medal Olympian
Cejudo is way above khabib overall in combat sports. Gold medal, multiple weight class champ etc
Khabib beat al iaquinta and a couple strikers. His grappling looked unstoppable sure, but he hardly fought anyone worthwhile and just called himself the goat
Fucker
i reckon everyone has a bias toward themself
khabib being undefeated … thats very rare for anyone in a goat discussion
