How is this the least damaging for his brand? Now he’s viewed as either a broken old man, or a broken old man who knew he was injured and screwed the fans out of a fight.
HEs not wrong ONE FC is where the warriors are. UFC is WWE hardcore mode. It sbaiscalyl human cockfighting at this stage. ![]()
It saved him from a 5 round aura killing beard beatdown. Where he would ALSO look like an old broken down man. He can claim a freak injury, get paid, knock a other fight off his contract. Without the embarrassment.
It was the LEAST damaging, damaging yes, but he saved himself.
I would also think this is his last fight. I don’t think either the UFC would be willing to pay him for another nor would fans be willing to pay for another McGregor fight.
These are fair points. We don’t know if he turned into another Floyd Mayweather and blew it all. It’s a piece of missing information so we can only speculate. Google searches still have him listed as being worth 200 million but that may be inaccurate. However it’s all we have to go on.
I think he would like it to be his last fight, but Dana knows Conor is going to fight influencers for $100m immediately after he’s done with the UFC, and there’s no way he lets him go make that money with Jake Paul.
There could also be a middle ground; Conor knew that he wasn’t in good shape, but he thought he had a fighter’ chance of landing something.
No doubt, the flying kick was awkward-as-fuck and he landed funny. Maybe it took an existing injury but completely blew it.
He could easily have been walking into the Octagon thinking “Fuck, I hope my knee holds-up”. Seems dumb for him to do such an awkward move in the opening seconds, regardless of his injury.
This isn’t a Bruce Lee movie.
Speaking for myself, I’m not doubting that his age, layoff, drugs, mileage led to the knee injury
That isn’t the conspiracy, the conspiracy theory is that he was injured/compromised prior to the fight
The possibility that Dana/the UFC knew about it
Given the high profile, highly anticipated, big money big deal event it was, AND a significant amount of money for Conor as well is it really so out of this world of shady fight business history combine with money, for people to wonder if there was prior injury and prior knowledge by the UFC?
Conor has a record label? What kind of music does it put out?
Just got back to this thread. If you’re talking about him punching his hands together, there are LOTS of fighters that do that. He isn’t having issues landing on the knee. Now, he isn’t throwing with NEARLY the explosive power and dynamic movement that he actually did in the opening of the fight. There is a great video out there by some kind of joint doctor talking about how Conor’s hips were still rotating and his foot stuck so it put a ton of energy right on the knee.
An alternative explanation could be that he was practicing how he was going to “blow out his knee”, but he’s rehearsed opening sequences before.
I haven’t seen any proof that this was fuckery, but I’ll admit I don’t know that it wasn’t. It might be. Other people don’t know either though.
UFC are probably waiting to see if they get a class-action lawsuit on their hands from people who bought tickets to the show.
He got punked by McGregor at some industry awards show or something in front of his woman, Megan Fox, a few years back.
Oh I know who you mean now. He apparently was a junkie and is now better. He’s probably mad he couldn’t survive a blast double leg.
