Dana White felt confident that his production team was the absolute worst in the business.
Then came the FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, featured on a broadcast that included celebrity screwups and a botched flyover, among other errors. In fact, things got so bad during last Sunday’s telecast that White has agreed to “bow down” to the new leader of the pack.
UFC previously held the title for this fight night screwup.
“You know what’s crazy? I actually teed up the guys who are doing the production, the guys responsible for the production of the World Cup, for [those] guys to hit a grand slam home run,” White said on Instagram. “Even though everybody in my team was arguing with me saying that [they] are the worst, I said, ‘No, we are the worst – they didn’t fuck it up as bad as we did.”
Downright “disgusting.”
“And what do you guys do? You triple down today and you just go, ‘Fuck you Dana White, you’re not beating us. We’re the worst production team in the history of sports to ever show celebrities.’ I bow down,” White continued. “Congratulations to the producers of the World Cup. You guys win, you guys fucked up that flyover, too. I’m not going to nitpick, I’m just giving you credit where credit is due. You guys absolutely fucking suck. We are the second worst.“
Unfortunately for UFC, the Shakur Stevenson mixup was not an isolated incident.
Spain went on to defeat Argentina by a score of 1-0, which torched a $100,000 bet laid by UFC 329 headliner Conor McGregor. As for White and Co., he’ll get a chance to redeem himself (and his production team) at the upcoming UFC Abu Dhabi MMA event this weekend in UAE.
World Cup had Buffer brothers making player introductions.
UFC could never!
The telemundo broadcast focused on showing the baddies in the crowd not Celebrities.
