So if you touch anywhere beside a 3”x5” notecard on a strike it’s ok? If the strike overlaps with a “legal” spot, then it’s ok?

I’d be cool with back of the head strikes, but that explanation is about as clear as mud.

Basically anywhere above the ear lobes is legal

Do you guys think the officials were all specifically told to not stop things early or other similar calls? Sure seems it.

The thing is, most were NOT t o the back of the head, and some were so because Alex turned his head. Those are all legal. Still, Gane should have got a verbal warning at a minimum, as he clearly doesn’t care. I wouldn’t have deducted a point but stopped and restarted it. Especially considering Cyril’s reputation!

Weird how him and JBJ get away with it all.

I agree.

For everyone complaining about it, most of them looked good to me.

And yeah, he should have at least gotten a warning.

Seems like they were going to go for quick stand-ups and separations to keep things from turning into a dry humping festival. Quicker stoppages as well so things wouldn’t get “too” violent.

However, dominant champions have always been given every chance to come back. Look at GSP, Chris Weidman, etc…

The only legit bad stoppage was the O’Malley/Zahabi fight but I’m sure zahabi was more than happy for it to have been stopped.

The Bo Nickal fight I felt was stopped sl early, but it didn’t change a thing and only saved Daukaus a few brain cells.

Herb Dean’s “illegal strike zone”

Yes sadly I asked Ai…but I can’t seem to find the exact question I asked it about. It was about some type of controversial decision. And the main answer came back to “referee discretion.” I 100% believe there is someone in their ear saying let the fight go until you know it’s truly definitive.

Like Goddard who ref’d Topuria/Gaethje overruled a doctor lol. U know damn well he was told to ‘complete the objective.’
