Imo if he actually takes and wins that fight it completely solidifies him as the GOAT beyond all doubt. All things considered Tom (or Ngannou) would arguably have been Jons most impressive win outside of DC, but hes now avoided both while at the same time still wanting to fuck around at HW and pretend to be the champ because of his ego.

Derrrrr. Reyes won the two of the first three rounds against Jones so he obviously won a five round title fight. Because Jones didn’t dominate him. Reyes went on such a tear after that win.
Santos kept the fight close so he beat Jon too. He did great against Glover after that Jones win.
Gus took Jones down. He won the fight. Oh wait he got destroyed in the fifth and again in their rematch.

GSP beat the WW GOAT before he was. He beat one of the best LW’s , who also had a win over the then WW GOAT. He beat every top contender and also had a close win that was controversial to some. Then he came out of retirement to win the belt in the weight class above him. His losses were avenged spectacularly.
Jones has a great resume too. GSP’s is better to me.
