Retired two-division UFC champion Georges St-Pierre is having his life story adapted into a new biopic with Canadian filmmaker Thomas Soto attached to direct.
The news was first announced by Variety on Tuesday.
“We have been considering telling my story for a moment now, and when we found this team it was clear to us that we wanted this to be told in a new creative way,” St-Pierre said in a statement about the project.
Recognized as one of the greatest fighters in MMA history, St-Pierre conquered both the welterweight and middleweight divisions during his career before retiring in in 2019.
He won his first UFC title 2006 when he avenged an earlier loss to Matt Hughes but then dropped the belt one fight later when he suffered a massive upset loss to Matt Serra. St-Pierre bounced back in dominant fashion and never tasted defeat again for the rest of his career.
St-Pierre eventually took out Serra to reclaim the title just over a year later and he went onto defend the belt a record nine times including wins over Jon Fitch, B.J. Penn, Josh Koscheck, Jake Shields, Nick Diaz and Johny Hendricks.
Following that final win over Hendricks, St-Pierre eventually vacated the title and took an almost four-year long sabbatical before finally returning in 2017 when he defeated Michael Bisping to become UFC middleweight champion.
St-Pierre relinquished that title just over a month later and that win over Bisping serves as the last fight of his legendary career. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2020 and still maintains a long list of records from his career in the octagon.
“I want to tell the story of Georges behind GSP in a way that feels intimate, honest and deeply human,” Soto said about the film. “To me, bringing that story to the world is both a privilege and a responsibility.”
Soto, who is a Quebec based filmmaker, has directed several films and television projects in his native Canada and now he’ll attempt to adapt St-Pierre’s life story into a biopic.
Casting has not started for the project and the film doesn’t have a distributor just yet but producers are on board to help get the film made with St-Pierre working directly with the project as well.

I hope they hire a retarded kid like the one they hired for bloodsport to play young Georgie.
The kid who played young Frank Dux/Jean Claude Van Damme was some kind of special. Perfectly cast.

The Stalling Machine.
I hope there’s an alien abduction scene.
Despite all of his decisions I was a big fan of his. 26-2 is amazing and to end his career by going up in weight and winning the belt by submission is a perfect ending to his career. I look forward to this movie. I have doubts that it’ll turn out good but whatever.
I want to see this movie so bad! Give it to me!
I’m not impressed by your pronunciation
