When Jon Jones folded Stipe Miocic with a spinning kick to the body, which not only secured âBonesâ the technical knockout victory but also logged the heavyweight championâs first official title defense, the former 205-pound kingpin immediately broke out the famed âTrump Danceâ to celebrate his performance.
Trump was cageside for the UFC 309 pay-per-view (PPV) event last Nov. in New York.
âGood Jon Jones story that nobody knows,â famed grappler, Gordon Ryan, told UFC color commentator Joe Rogan. âI was cornering [Jones] for his last fight against Stipe. We found out that Trump was going to be there. Probably 20 minutes of that warm up was just him practicing the mechanics of how to do the Trump dance right.â
Hereâs Jones strutting his stuff:
Not quite Joe dancing a jig, but not bad.
âWe looked it up, YouTubed it, and he was practicing the Trump dance in the locker room getting ready to do it,â Ryan continued. âThe best [part] is, we were all for it. We were like, âNo, the hands gotta be a little bit higher.â We were coaching him through it.â
Ryan frequently collaborates with Jones ahead of major UFC title fights.
Jones, 37, may not have any reason to dance if and when he eventually books his title unification bout opposite interim titleholder, Tom Aspinall. âBonesâ has been accused of âholding upâ the heavyweight division and reportedly has a laundry list of demands before signing on the dotted line, which may eventually force this unpopular course of action.
Trump should start doing the Jon Jones eyepoke move during interviews
