"He's not an Olympic Champion....He's not a BJJ Black Belt"

and RELATED to this discussion is the: Size & Strength Don’t Matter, Judo is way of SOFTNESS, Women & Kids show the True Judo/JiuJitsu…ALL A BUNCH OF MALARKY

it’s like when watching those old GJJ in Action vids and they were Narrating how Helio was really winning against Kimua and I was scratching my head and trying to MATH what was being stated

That’s sort of what I’m getting at. Guy might be a white belt but he also might have been wrestling hard for 15 years and have top notch strength and conditioning.

even the best wresters IMO do not start off as black belt level…Im sure there may be an exception but very rare like BO who is world class wrestler

Big difference with an ultra athletic, lifelong wrestler, and blue belt Nick Rodriguez and a brand new white belt off the street coming in and submitting black belts

i was curious your opinion

Sort of depends on the match ups. I’m more of a wrestler grappler. Takedowns, sweeps, passing the guard. I did well in BJJ comps when I was younger. It does make things hard when a guy can out wrestle me and I can’t sweep.

Some guys that I can beat might be able to sub them easier if they like subbing off their backs.

I hear you. Fractions into decimals fucked me up. I get it.

a wrestler has a big advantage when they first start out compared to average Joe.I was an ex wrestler so it helped me when i started but there was plenty of people to humble me which i was fine with and is a good thing to have good training partners

Creative and more direct than the sneaky thread another poster made a few weeks ago slyly comparing the 2 !

An athletic good blue belt or purple belt with a wrestling background can give black belts problems. I’ve seens it.
