How sustainable is DDP’s style?

DDP is the type of guy that accidentally steps on your cats tail while telling you a story

Agreed. Guys who do things “technically wrong” but still make it work often become champions. Guys you cant train for.

I’d much rather watch a guy like DDP fight than countless textbook fighters that all look and fight the same that fill most of the UFC roster.

I still think he’s wide open for some good knees to the belly though.

If Khamzat could stay consistently healthy, I think we’d all love to see him fight for the title.

I don’t think it’ll happen though. Some weird shit is up with that guy.

DDP would destroy Khamzat IMO
So will Whitiker if they can actually get Khamzat to show up to a fight.

I think Whitaker beats him if they fight again.

Uhh. Didnt he ragdoll Whitaker?

Yoga posses arent that hard and fat mid west wifes will buy that shit till the end of time

this ain’t dancing boys, you don’t have to have the smoothest moves to smash people up. He kind of reminds me of Askren in his college days, not the most conventional smooth looking technique but super effective.

Hes in his prime right now, once his athleticism and durability starts slipping in 3-4 years he could be in trouble.

It took me about 1/2 of this thread for me to realize it isn’t about Diamond Dallas Page

I reckon that Yoga is an activity that’s highly sustainable.

I’m surprised Izzy didn’t try that.

I was screaming at my tv flying knee to the belly is open!

I think he is going to lose every fight he is in. He doesn’t look very good. Slow punches, often winging and leaping with them. Always looks gassed. Awkward footwork.

Yet the dude just keeps winning. After he beat Strickland I said I would never doubt him again.

He has other intangibles that make up for some of the other stuff. He hits really hard, is very strong for the weight class, does very well when on top grappling. And a never ending will to win.

Yup.

He really has that. I mean, we’d expect everyone in MMA to have it, but somehow, you sense that more with him.

Yet it is also true that the win over Strickland was a VERY close one, and could have gone either way.

Good points. I like him but I don’t think he will have a long reign like Izzy. He is older too.

How does he fare against Pereira should he move up to face him, or Belal if he moves up?

His wrestling heavy style and awkward striking will probably stifle Belal, and as much as I hate to say it, he has a good chance of taking Pereira down and choking him out.

It wouldn’t shock me if DDP goes on an epic run.

Alex starches him, B LOL ends up crying again
