How quickly do you see him beating Ali?

I’d be so disappointed if Fury won this tourney lol - just never been a fan of his

Not necessarily quickly but I could see Lennox shutting him down like he did to just about everyone.

Ali was great but I dont see him as the unquestionable best as so many do.

I know exactly what you mean

Probably Lennox unless he gets McCall’d/Rahman’d

On the fence over whether his opponent in the finals would be Holmes or Usyk.

This one goes to the goat, the best to ever lace up gloves, Usyk.

This is a very solid bet although I think Ali would have a very solid chance of beating him. Lennox never fought anyone close to Ali stylistically and his constant movement would definitely cause problems. Lennox also was notorious for showing his best opponents too much respect whereas Ali’s best performances were when the stakes were high.

I’m taking the winner of the alternates match. Whomever comes out on top between Joe Louis and Evander.

Fury beats iron Mike by lopsided 12 round decision after miraculously getting off the canvas 3 times before round 6.

Ali, seemingly outlasts Lewis in what is a dull affair early coming down the stretch to land dazzling combinations after Lewis struggles to find a home for his upper cut. Lewis, in the best shape of his career, seems sluggish by round 8 and uncharacteristically content to hold and hit.

Foreman, (24) KO 1 :39 seconds. Wild swinging affair.

Usyk wins a split decision after both men had their moments. Most ring side observers think Usyk edged the victory.

Lennox chin is too soft. He wouldn’t have a huge reach advantage over Ali, Ali would be the faster guy, and Ali is a clutch performer.

I’d take Ali in that fight all day.

Edit: I looked it up. I guess Lennox would have a 6 inch reach advantage. I was wrong. I’ll leave it for everyone to laugh at me about for all time.

Oleksander Usyk. Vs Larry Holmes

This is a fascinating set of fantasy matchups — mixing different styles, eras, and physical attributes. Here’s a breakdown of how each hypothetical fight might go, assuming each fighter is in their prime:

  1. Mike Tyson vs. Tyson Fury
Prediction: Tyson Fury (by late TKO or UD)

Why: Mike Tyson (prime: late '80s) was ferocious — fast, powerful, with great head movement. But Fury is an enormous (6’9"), highly skilled boxer with excellent footwork, a strong chin, and the ability to adapt mid-fight.

X-factor: Fury’s size (85-inch reach vs. Tyson’s 71) and ring IQ could allow him to neutralize Tyson’s early blitz and take over in later rounds.

Counterpoint: If Tyson landed clean early, he could end it — but Fury’s resilience and adaptability give him the edge.

  1. Muhammad Ali vs. Lennox Lewis
Prediction: Muhammad Ali (by close UD or SD)

Why: Ali’s speed, movement, and psychological warfare were next-level, especially in the '60s. Lennox is one of the most complete heavyweights ever — powerful, technically sound, and intelligent — but Ali’s ability to control distance and tempo would trouble him.

X-factor: Ali’s chin and ability to rise to the occasion (e.g., vs. Foreman, Frazier). Lewis could win on points if he maintains discipline, but Ali’s awkward angles and flurries would likely earn him a tight decision.

  1. George Foreman vs. Deontay Wilder
    Prediction: George Foreman (by KO)

Why: Both have thunderous power, but Foreman in the '70s was a brutal, relentless puncher with a better chin and stronger fundamentals. Wilder’s defense and footwork are suspect.

X-factor: If Wilder lands first, he could end it, but Foreman likely absorbs a few and finishes Wilder with thudding power combinations.

Bottom line: Someone’s going to sleep — and Foreman was more durable and well-rounded.

  1. Oleksandr Usyk vs. Larry Holmes
Prediction: Larry Holmes (by close UD)

Why: Usyk is a master boxer with elite footwork and movement, but Holmes was similarly mobile — and had one of the best jabs in heavyweight history, a strong chin, and 15-round stamina.

X-factor: Usyk could outmaneuver Holmes early, but Holmes’ jab, size (6’3"), and resilience would likely allow him to edge it over 12 or 15 rounds.

Note: This one is razor-close stylistically.

Summary of Predicted Winners:

George Foreman vs. Deontay Wilder George Foreman
Oleksandr Usyk vs. Larry Holmes Larry Holmes

  1. Tyson Fury vs. Muhammad Ali
Prediction: Muhammad Ali (by close UD or SD)

Breakdown:

Tyson Fury has every physical advantage — 6’9”, 85” reach, great movement, and awkward timing.

Ali, however, had legendary footwork, speed, stamina, and a mental edge that frustrated even the most powerful punchers.

Key Points:

Ali would use movement and combinations to offset Fury’s size and rhythm.

Fury could press him physically and has a great chin — but Ali outmaneuvered bigger men like Foreman and Liston.

Outcome: A chess match, but Ali’s speed and angles edge out a decision.

  1. George Foreman vs. Larry Holmes
Prediction: Larry Holmes (by UD or late TKO)

Breakdown:

Foreman’s raw power is undeniable, but Holmes had the jab, stamina, and toughness to survive the storm.

Holmes beat power punchers like Earnie Shavers and Ken Norton, weathering punishment and coming back strong.

X-factor:

Holmes’ jab would disrupt Foreman’s rhythm, and his conditioning would outlast Big George in a long fight.

Outcome: Holmes survives some early trouble and dominates the second half.

:trophy: Final: Muhammad Ali vs. Larry Holmes
(Yes, this fight actually happened in 1980 — but Ali was far past his prime then. Let’s imagine both in their primes.)

Prediction: Muhammad Ali (by UD in a classic)

Breakdown:

Holmes modeled himself after Ali and had better fundamentals in some areas (like his jab), but Ali was faster, more elusive, and mentally sharper in his prime.

Both had iron wills and great stamina.

Key Points:

Ali would edge Holmes in speed, showmanship, and versatility.

Holmes might land the sharper jab, but Ali’s flurries and movement would sway the judges.

Outcome: A tactical war — Ali edges it 7–5 or 8–4 on the cards.

Ali and Usyk have the same height and reach.

I still take Ali. I was just admitting my error on the statement about reach difference.

I don’t know Fury is big but peak Mike Tyson likely hurts him to the body early and often.

No offense to the Ali fans, but he’s probably last in this group. Also worth noting I going with old George in his comeback, I think he was a much better boxer then than in his physical prime.

Thinking through it:

Round of 8:

  1. Mike Tyson vs Tyson Fury
Probably Tyson Fury. Too big, very durable. Wear on Mike, lean on him, make him tired. I know Mike likes fighting taller people and people do a lot of mental gymnastics around him being better against taller guys, but I think this is the worst matchup for Mike.

  2. Muhammad Ali vs Lennox Lewis
Lewis. He’s bigger and better at everything. Ali is a cultural icon, he’s getting wrecked by everyone on this list except Holmes.

  3. George Foreman vs Deontay Wilder
Big George. He’d wear on Wilder, tank Wilder’s power on the cross guard. Beat him up and decision him. Maybe stop him late.

  4. Oleksander Usyk. Vs Larry Holmes
    Usyk. Better at everything.

Round of 4:

  1. Tyson Fury vs Lennox
Fury probably. Fury is too slick for Lennox I think. It’s not an easy fight by any stretch of the imagination, but Tyson is longer than Lennox. Fury UD.

  2. Foreman vs Usyk
Probably Usyk. I think he’d box Big George up, move in and out, and win a UD. George is probably the most likely to beat Usyk though. He has defensive savy and the kind of power to put away someone who isn’t a big heavyweight. George can knock out any man on the planet, and his style does well with southpaws. My heart says George, my brain says Usyk.

Finals: Fury x Usyk

We’ve seen this one a few times. Usyk.

I agree with this. I think furys supposed footwork and defensive skills are overrated. He’s a big lumbering dude.

Mike would have the speed and power advantage by a mile. I think young Mike would get to him easily.
