Michael Leira Jr left his affiliation, JT Torres left. Bruno Frazzato. Lucas Pinherio left. Atos Temecula. Lots more these are just the ones off the top of my head. ATOS is so big that there are so many amazing competitors that so many people don’t even know their names, also dropping like flies. I’m a total jiujitsu nerd, was hoping to join ATOS soon, but this changed that plan.

I’m assuming they’d all been looking for a reason to leave for awhile and this is the perfect opportunity to do it and receive zero backlash or drama. if galvao was acting out in that way in one facet, you know he was becoming a greedy prick in others. I think he was pretty good at keeping it under wraps until relatively recently but his ego started getting the best of him and he got arrogant thinking he could get away with anything with the amount of influence he’s acquired.
Acting extremely inappropriate with a woman he’d been training since she was a kid and there’s a bunch of others allegedly. How do you have some little girl looking at you like a father figure giving her her grey belt one day and then sexually harassing and assaulting her on the mat repeatedly ten years later?
So far everything I’ve seen is vague. He’s accused of being “inappropriate” or sexual harassment but I have yet to see anything specific. I’m not defending him nor am I trying cast any doubt on the accusations. Jus saying that as of now it’s been very very vague.

doesnt make any sense at all. A lot of people have left over this, at great expense to their personal relationships and competitive careers. I dont think they were all just looking for a reason to leave. I had dinner with JT Torres last year and he gave me absolutely no indication that he was looking to leave ATOS. We even talked about Andre.

My buddy made a great point to me - that this is typical behaviour in brasil. Not uncommon at all for coaches to be creepy to girls in class (like age 13-18.)

Big time atos affiliates were publicly rebranding days before she released that statement. The original bjjdrama post that is now deleted is over a week old where the allegations first publicly came to light and students and instructors had started leaving like a week or two BEFORE that even. It definitely has “this is the straw that broke the camel’s back” vibe
this is definitely a problem that has been allowed to fester for a significant amount of time. And why would jt make you privy to that kind of insider info if you were just hanging out?
I always think it’s strange when the wife or gf sticks up for the guys in these scenarios. Maybe she just doesn’t believe the accusations but sometimes they are full aware and will protect regardless.
Think of what’s at stake. Potentially losing a marriage. Losing your livelihood. Your access to money and fancy way of life. Losing respect. Losing social status. It’s really losing everything.
It’s common to respond like that. They were living like rockstars making A LOT of money. No one wants to give up the cushy life style, certainly not for a dark truth.
