Is Izzy finished? I hope not

I like Izzy and was really pulling for him. I also dislike Imavov, props to him I guess. This really was a must win for Izzy, I don’t think he wants to be relegated to being a gate keeper. I say throw him in with Hazmat if he wants a big fight.

Good highlight of the KOs in this event

Good combo for Imoev. Eye poke to overhand right.

35 in fighting is pretty old especially someone who counters and reacts with such speed. Typically speed goes first.

where does he go from here?
3 fight skid after such a dominant career. Must be bummed out

I think the biggest problem for him besides reaction time is that his chin had a lot of miles on it before his UFC career. He’s lost three in a row and four out of five. I hope he can make it back to at least being a top ten fighter.

Also, I feel like they nailed it.

UFC trilogy fight with Alex.

It really seems like when people falter at 185 they really fall hard. For whatever reason, not too many career speed bumps in that division.

If you think about some of the top guys in that division the last few years, many have flamed out badly.

Weidman
Romero
Costa
Vittori
Cannonier
Izzy?

I thought the stop was a touch early. Goddard kind of sucks. Either he recovers or he eats a few more. Since I’ve never been a fan of his either one is fine.

When Izzy finally beat Poatan I never imagined their respective careers would take on the trajectories that they did. Crazy

Strickland took his soul with teep kicks.

He doesn’t suddenly have a glass jaw though.
Both the Strickland shot and this one were similar overhand rights that would drop a bull. You could argue his reaction time is maybe slowed, in both instances he had his hands low and didn’t react fast enough when they threw the bomb,
(And In the Pereira loss he was refusing to go down and was eating shots against the cage.)

Izzy has always relied on his reach and his lean back to avoid strikes which is fundamentally bad technique, especially if he keeps going back and not side to side.

He really needs to work with someone like Sugarhill Steward on his boxing.
