It’s probably a bad combination of both.
His family had money and properties prior to BJ ever getting into MMA. It is what allowed him to singularly focus on training at a time when most MMA athletes had real jobs.

i read his book and he would do afterschool backyard boxing every day. he was gettin hit a ton before he started mma. thats also why he peaked early, younger than most
