He didn’t jump in the deep end, he fought a bunch of washed up fighters. Some were a decade or TWO passed their prime.

He had a ton of money before he ever fought. Pretty sure he was doing it for the love of the game from the start, which is actually admirable. I am sure the money was no deterrent.

You are correct.
He’s done I said it when it happened. Not as it happened but when the X-rays came out and they said how bad the break was on both sides. Then he had to go back and get it redone. If he got nailed again and it broke on both sides of the metal implants he would be in for years and years of surgery and problems.
I know from experience due to the fact I have titanium and metal in my own face and have had to deal with it for over 20 years.

He went from being a complete hobbyist to fighting in front of PPV audiences against 1 pro athlete, and then went on to fight pro fighters.
That’s far more deep end than any of us could ever get to if we decided we wanted to fight professionally
No, he beat up a few YouTubers first (Nate Robinson, AnEsonGib) then moved to Ben Askren and Woodley (who can’t box and would be beaten in a boxing match by amateurs in any city across the country).
Then Anderson Silva who was in his late 40s. Need I go on? I will go on. Just to mention he was way bigger than all of these guys too.

Ideally, broken bones, including in the jaw, heal to be as strong as they were before the break.
Fighters have also continued to compete after getting titanium plates in their jaw due to a bad break.
As another comment said, Paul is trying to build up hype for his return. His doctor likely told him do not fight bonafide heavyweight contenders again, but there’s no shortage of semi-retired, over 40 former welterweight MMA fighters he can fight who have little chance of rocking him.
He didn’t deep dive at all. Every damn fight was shady as hell with pulled punches till the last round of the Joshua fight.
