I agree. The smart play is to pack it in and live his best life. Fighting is bad for your health. But most guys simply can’t walk away from big paydays and being “the man.” I think it’s possible Frances doesn’t want to fight anymore.
Yes I say that. He’s a prize fighter, this is a lucrative fight with a lot of potential attention that seems very winnable. He’s a serious threat he’s not serious about boxing. If he was, he’d be fighting regularly. Instead he’s got one foot in mma and one foot in boxing and he’s quite inactive in both. He’s a special attraction type fighter.
Francis could legit win a boxing HW title at some point with a little luck in the ring and in matchmaking.
Jake Paul doesn’t move him toward that goal, so he is passing it up.
It is an interesting decision, because the Paul fight looks like an easy in-ring option on the surface. Promoting that sort of thing may not be on brand for Francis at this point in his perspective.
I doubt it. I think Fury took him lightly. No one is making that mistake again. No disrespect to the man, he’s an absolute terror. There is film on him now which makes it another disadvantage to him. He is too inactive and the top guys (especially Usyk) are too skilled.
No way Jake Paul fights Ngannau. I like Paul, he is ballsey as hell, but no way he takes this fight LOL. I’d love to be wrong though! But I won’t be LOL.
