Jon Anik Admits ‘it Hasn’t Been a Great Few Weeks’ for UFC, Paramount+ as Even loyal Fans Begin to Revolt

Not often anymore. Itʻll be on, but Iʻm not paying attention. Theyʻve done fuckall to make it interesting, and I donʻt have the time/effort/desire to follow a bunch of lookalike bearded eastern Russians or other nameless faceless dudes. The org needs to give the consumer a reason to give a fuck, and ʻjust being onʻ isnʻt really a solid reason.

When they sold to WME or whatever that corporation with the small hats is when it went to shit

Just another faceless corporation ran by small hats that just want to make more money and don’t give a fuck about MMA

Can’t wait to see what he does with TOYO TIRES THE OFFICIAL TIRE OF THE UFC

This is why we can’t have nice things. People choose to believe it is not possible because of stuff.

This.

A lot of this talk of the “UFC sucks now” is just a bunch of celebrity worshippers lamenting the lack of celebrity in the UFC.

I know a few guys who are Mma “fans” (guys that don’t do any martial arts themselves) that complain about Conor being gone and other shit like that. “When is Suga Sean gonna fight again!!!….Paddy the Baddy!!! MVP!!!”.

All they care about is these characters.

And MVP fucking sucks.

This was me, 2004-2013. Then I stayed casual for a couple years. Then I just kind of stopped watching.

I watched UFC London and that card was shite!! For years I have just watched ufc the next day on fast forward.

I understand his point :100:, but I’ve been in this Sport 32 years and remember when I had to wait 3-4 months in between UFC’s. I love having shows almost every week.

Sure, but it’s not like they did their best to prevent bad fights from being booked. Michael Page’s last fight is a great example of that. Just WTF matchmaking.

MMA desperately needs more characters. Boring, generic fighters are boring and generic. People want to see characters that stand out put in a position to shine. That’s entertainment.

One of the biggest problems is that it’s 2026 and they are still putting on events at the fucking Apex.

Dana admitted the Apex was a subpar experience years ago. Then they realized they could get away with it to save money.

Enshittification.

same shyte different day

Bring back 16 man tournaments. They’re essentially the playoffs/march madness for MMA.

Dana is Colonel Sanders at this point, IMO.

He is a corporate mascot.

8 man one day open weight tournaments too, while we are at it!

It’s a matter of opinion. Maybe I’m easy to please. I remember a time when we got maybe 3 ppvs a year and nothing else. I think having high level fights every week and no ppv is awesome.

I think it’s a tough spot. You want fighters to get paid fairly, but for old school fans cards had already been weak ever since UFC went mainstream. UFC has always been really good at setting up what turns out to be exciting fights anyway though.
