Jon Jones could feature on the UFC’s historic White House card after all.

Speaking during an event at a casino in New Hampshire on Saturday, ā€˜Bones’ said: "I’m in negotiations with the UFC about this White House thing as well.

"I’m a very, very proud American, and I cannot wait to represent one more time.

ā€œSo, we’ll see what happens.ā€

What has Dana White previously said about Jones at the White House?

Jones’ comments seemingly hint at a sensational backflip from UFC boss Dana White, who claimed last July the all-time great would not be a part of the event.

At the time, White claimed he ā€˜can’t risk’ putting Jones in a headline bout at the White House and ā€˜have something go wrong.’

White later doubled down on his stance, claiming Jones’ odds of featuring at the White House stood at ā€˜a billion to one’.

Yet Jones’ latest revelation may indicate White, who has consistently labelled the 38-year-old as the ā€˜greatest of all time’, has had a re-think about his initial stance.

Who could Jones fight at the White House?

Should Jones feature on the White House card, with the event expected to take place on June 14, one name stands out as a likely opponent: Alex Pereira.

The Brazilian vacated his UFC light-heavyweight title on Saturday as all signs point towards a move to the heavyweight division.

With Pereira no longer the champion, Jiri Prochazka’s scrap against Carlos Ulberg on April 11 will now be for the vacant light-heavyweight crown.

The Brazilian’s desire to shift divisions could be because of the opportunity to create UFC history as the first ever three-division champion.

Although it has not been made official, Pereira has long toyed with the idea of moving up to the heavyweights.

And there would be no bigger fight to mark his debut in the heaviest division than against Jones, who has not fought since he stopped Stipe Miocic in November 2024.

White himself has even opened the door for a showdown between ā€˜Poatan’ and Jones at the White House.

Speaking to Complex in January, White was asked about the prospect of the fight and replied: "At 205 pounds? That would be a fight.

ā€œBut can I count on Jon Jones? Can’t have Jon Jones doing something bad or pulling out of the f****** White House fight.ā€

Why Pereira v Jones could top the White House bill and not Conor McGregor

A bout between Pereira and Jones would undoubtedly be the headline event at the White House now that Conor McGregor appears highly unlikely to feature.

McGregor was the leading contender to top the bill in what would have been his first fight since July 2021.

However, respected MMA journalist Ariel Helwani has since claimed the Irishman is more likely to return on the International Fight Week card on July 11 in Las Vegas.

ā€œThere’s a greater chance of him fighting on that card than on the White House card," Helwani said.

ā€œBecause, as I have told you, there’s no money to be made from the White House event.

ā€œIn fact, they keep touting the fact that there is money to be lost from the White House event.ā€

Dana knows he needs the coke money.

Unless an unforseen injury occurs, Jones will make the walk. He definitely wants to fight at the White House.

Imagine how off the rails (while on some rails) he’s gonna go when Alex ruins his ā€œperfectā€ record of cheating and being victorious.

It’s not about injury it’s legal shit he could get himself in. If he slaps the shit out of his wife then drives drunk and kills a little kid then gets out and fights with the cop, all caught on tape … they’d have to pull him lol.
