“I don’t know what life holds as far as fighting and competing,” Jones told Vic Blends when asked if he’ll fight for UFC again. “I do feel like I’ll be a lifelong martial artist whether I’m coaching others or taking exhibition matches and things like that. There’s a lot of great competition still in the UFC.

“I do view myself as more than a fighter and being in my position, I feel like I have a lot more options than a lot of the other fighters as far as the ability to leave and return and things like that.”

So who is lying?

Chael said to the Maclife this week that there is a date for them to fight. I would imagine it’s October or November.

Maybe all this is just turning into a way to now hype up the fight itself. I wouldnt put it past the UFC to hold off on announcing it and just letting Tom and Jon to continue to go back and forth to build up the fight.

His signature win over Stipe cemented Jones as the greatest heavyweight of all time so no reason to not hang it up. Nothing left for the GOAT to accomplish.

“The UFC, I, and Tom, we all got a lot of stuff happening behind the scenes,” Jones said. They’re one of the biggest organizations in sports, and right now Tom and I have agreed to wait for the UFC to make their announcements in time, so I legally can’t really talk about it.”

This is actually one of the more positive answers to the question Jon has given over the past few months, but keep in mind he gave it in front of hundreds of fans. His answers in private and one-on-one interviews have leaned a lot more towards him being in a state of semi-retirement with no set intention of fighting again.

During an interview with Vic Blends of “DeepCut,” Jon Jones was asked if the disqualification loss should be removed from his record. “Bones” said that while he understands how a promoter might feel, he isn’t concerned about it.

“The promoter in me says that 0 should be removed from my record, “Jones said. “That way I can be truly marketed as an undefeated fighter, but the athlete in me knows that the rules are the rules. At the time when I was disqualified, 12-6 elbows was illegal. So, I broke the rule and I paid the cost by having a loss. It just is what it is. Can’t cry over spilled milk.”

Jones now looks forward, but what that might entail remains to be seen. The MMA world has been calling for Jones and interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall to be booked in a title unification bout. UFC CEO Dana White has long said he doesn’t doubt the fight will eventually be made.

During a seminar in Phuket, Jones revealed he can’t legally talk about what’s next for him in terms of fighting. He also said that Tom Aspinall is in the same situation, as both have spoken to the UFC.

well played Tom…calling Jon retired and himself the undisputed Champ ready to defend is one way to irk Jon. Not by begging him to agree to the fight.
