no one cares, bro, just open an OF and get it over with
Jon Jones thinks getting out his contract with the UFC won’t be as impossible as many believe.
Jones was in attendance for this past Saturday’s Rousey vs. Carano event and watched Francis Ngannou pick up a first-round knockout victory over Philipe Lins. Jones said after the fight he’d love to get out of his contract to fight Ngannou because he knows the UFC would never allow the fight to take place due to their heated relationship with Ngannou.
While the MMA community believes there’s no chance that happens, Jones appears to be confident he can get out of the deal.
“I don’t know, I think getting out of my UFC contract is very, very possible,” Jones told Denise White. “I need to find the right people, go through my channels, or just put more effort into it.”
Jones informed the UFC of his retirement and vacated the heavyweight title a little less than a year ago, but wanted to return for the UFC White House card. UFC CEO Dana White was clear from day one that he had zero interest in having Jones on the card — which has led to Jones wondering if he even has a reason to continue on with his MMA career.
The former two-division champion says he actually has aspirations to compete out of the cage and in the squared circle.
“I really wanted to box,” Jones said. “If I were to put all of my energy in my hands, combinations, and punching power, I think I really could surprise a lot of people. I would love to box. That would be a lot of fun.”
It’s funny all of the sudden everyone has such a passion for boxing lol
Checkmate, Dana!

He’s fought twice in the last six years. He’d already be out of his contract if he had just fought on a regular basis. Instead he ducked and dodged the likes of Francis, Aspinal, and Pereira.
DC waitin for his own self.
Also the guy signed an 8 fight extension when he was like 35 and knew he would be retiring soon. What undefeated champion is 35 and fights 8 more times? At his rate he’d finish his contract at the age of 46

jj is flip flopping often on wanting to fight or retire
i believe this indicates he wont fight again
he can sue to get the bullshit matt hamill loss of his record and retire the undefeated goat
In my eyes when somebody flip flops it’s because they know it’s smart to retire then but at that time they don’t have things lined up to keep them busy/give them new purpose. So they know if they stop fighting altogether they will go crazy
Ok and what’s the plan if he does get released? He wants no part of Francis, is he boxing?
Really bad idea to box Francis so I’m assuming it would be an MMA fight. It won’t happen though and we all know it.

“Conor McGregor boxed Floyd Mayweather,” Woodley said. “My lawyer is the lawyer that actually gave Audie [Attar] and Conor the play and the manoeuvre to do it through the Ali Act. His name is Sam Spira. He doesn’t get a lot of credit for it. If Jon wanted to fight Francis Ngannou, there is a legal way where he can do it. It’s not going to be a cakewalk, but have the legal team deal with it.”
Jon texted me afterwards, because Jon knows me,” he continued. “He knows if I say something, I’m not going to be sugarcoating it. As I was saying it on air, my lawyer was watching it, so he sent me a text message of exactly the injunction he would have to do, how he would have to file it, and the process. It’s going to be a battle, but this is the way you can do it. Jon asked me himself, he said, ‘Tyron, send me that lawyer’s number that knows that play.’ I said fine, and I forwarded him my lawyer’s info.”
Maybe Conor at some point made a legal threat but it wasn’t a legal manoeuvre that allowed the fight to happen. The UFC agreed to co-promote the Conor vs Mayweather fight because they wanted to keep Conor happy, AND they made bank off allowing him to fight.
