Jon Jones announced his retirement from MMA last summer after long contract talks with the promotion to fight then-interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. After Jones quickly reversed his retirement following the UFC’s announced White House card set for this coming summer, Jones’ wishes to be featured at the event weren’t granted by UFC CEO Dana White.
Jones and White are at odds after the former UFC two-division champion publicly called for his release from the promotion following critical remarks White made about Jones and his desired White House comeback. As of this writing, it’s uncertain if Jones’ wish to be released will be granted or if the UFC will keep him under contract.
Another major obstacle to Jones potentially returning to the cage is severe hip arthritis, which Jones admitted in a leaked chat with two fans while promoting Dirty Boxing Championships. White pointed to Jones’ arthritis as a major reason he’s hesitant to book Jones another fight anytime soon.
That hurdle might’ve been alleviated thanks to Joe Rogan, who consulted with Jones about his medical issues.
Joe Rogan reached out to help Jon Jones after hip arthritis claims
In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan revealed his role in getting Jones help for his severe arthritis that may prohibit his UFC return.
“He doesn’t want to be done. He got stem sells on his hip, because I helped get it. He’s talked about, and I wouldnt’ve talked about it,” Rogan said of Jones.
“He’s feeling a lot better. He still has arthritis in his hip, it bothers him, but it doesn’t bother him enough where he can’t fight.”
Stem Cell Therapy is a form of regenerative medicine that promotes tissue repair using the body’s stem cells. It’s becoming an increasingly popular medical option for fighters, especially those who have retired and continue to deal with aches and pains.
While it’s uncertain if Jones will return to the cage to fight, Rogan played a major role in moving the former two-weight world champion in the correct direction.
