Jones spent the better part of 8 years cherry picking and not finishing fights. He had 2 finishes and one got overturned.
Then he “moved up” and fought one guy who didn’t show up and another who was 43 years old coming off a loss and a 3 year layoff.
Fedor went almost 10 years hardly dropping a round and he STILL has more finishes than Jones has fights.
Oh good grief.
The greatest HW should always have the GOAT-status advantage over the greatest WW.
P4P is overrated.
Anyone who believes GSP has a GOAT claim, but the guy who had the greatest run in HW history doesn’t – isn’t making much sense.
Jones has 17 title wins and they were all against top 5 ranked opponents I believe many if them ranked number 2.
Fedor is great I love him but he probably has less than or around 10 top 5 ranked wins. Now to do it at HW for so long undefeated is special so I’ll give some bonus points there but it’s not quite enough.
The depth of talent that Jones fought is pretty insane too.
And with the possible exception of DC, Fedor’s best opponents are likely beating most of those guys.
As great as they were, guys like Shogun and Rampage aren’t beating Cro Cop and Big Nog, etc. Neither is Gustoffson.
And Shogun/Rampage were no longer at their peaks when Jones beat them.
Jones benefited from good timing as much as anyone I have seen.
He wasn’t do dominant vs guys like Reyes, Santos, Smith, OSP, and Gustafsson (the first time). Even Glover.
And of course, when he moved to HW – well he was making his own good timing then…

That’s 12 historic HWs (other than Fedor) off the top of my head.
I’m not saying they all beat Jones.
Ring vs Cage would be a factor with some.
Some have more ways to beat him than others.
But there is no way in hell Jones runs the table vs all those guys.
He doesn’t have the HW resume to back that up.
Even the DC fight is different at HW. We will never know, and maybe Jones just had his number. But those weren’t one-sided fights.
I think naturally big HWs with serious power and high level grappling give Jones big problems.
We haven’t seen him really have to deal with that.
He dominated previous era LHWs when he had a size advantage. And when he no longer had that significant of a size advantage, then he wasn’t dominating and finishing guys like he had before. He was competing, at LHW.
The conversation about Jones being the GOAT begins and ends with his MULTIPLE failed PED tests. Sorry, but anyone that thinks a confirmed cheat can be considered GOAT is dumb as fuck and their opinion on this is worthless.

It’s been proven on multiple occasions Jones is a doping faggot. No amount of cope can change this fact.
The UFC has done a good job of white washing Fedor from history. Hes seldom in the discussion for the greatest although he’s got the best resume and longevity of anyone in the sports history and in the biggest stage.
